How do VR products protect eyes? The first visual health group standard in vr was released in Sui

VR applications are becoming more and more widespread, what kind of VR products have the least impact on people's visual health? Ophthalmologists are beginning to get involved in the development of standards for electronic products. On January 24, the Zhongshan Eye Center of Sun Yat-sen University led a number of institutions to release the world's first visual health group standard in the field of virtual reality, "Visual Health Impact Evaluation Method of Virtual Reality Products", which will promote the visual health development of standardized virtual reality technology.

Existing visual health evaluation indicators in the field of virtual reality are too fragmented

According to reports, virtual reality technology in the medical, educational, industrial, military and many other fields show a very broad application prospects, in the field of ophthalmology, based on VR technology vision function assessment, myopia prevention and control and training, visual aids, ophthalmic education and other aspects have shown unique superiority.

With the brilliance of VR at the same time, the application of VR technology on visual health impact has gradually attracted everyone's attention, in the visual quality of the influencing factors, virtual reality of the physical photoelectric technology parameters and visual quality has a great relationship, including the resolution of the screen, latency, screen brightness, refresh rate, multifocal display and so on.

According to reports, the current bottleneck for the evaluation of visual quality of virtual reality is that the evaluation indicators of visual health are fragmented, and there is no linkage study with the physical parameters of virtual reality photoelectrics, as well as the laws of using virtual reality; for central visual fatigue or visual abnormalities, there is a lack of effective evaluation system.

To this end, on July 30, 2021, the Zhongshan Eye Center of Sun Yat-sen University, together with the National Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and the China Electronic Technology Standardization Institute, jointly compiled the virtual reality blue book - "Ultra-high Definition Virtual Reality Display Terminal Product Quality Analysis Report" was officially released, which is the first national-level guiding document in the field of virtual reality industry in mainland China.

The new standard will answer the question "What kind of products and technologies are more in line with the needs of visual health"

On January 24, Professor Yuan Jin of Zhongshan Eye Center of Sun Yat-sen University, led by Professor Yuan Jin, together with Zhongshan Eye Center of Sun Yat-sen University, China Institute of Food and Drug Testing, Sun Yat-sen University, China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mide Technology Co., Ltd., Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Saixi Information Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Institute of Metrology and Testing Technology, China Medical University, China Biomedical Engineering Society and other scientific research institutions, released the world's first virtual reality group standard Visual Health Impact Evaluation Method for Virtual Reality Products (No.: T/CSBME 052-2022).

Yuan Jin, deputy director of the Zhongshan Eye Center of Sun Yat-sen University, introduced that this set of standards provides an evaluation and risk level assessment method for the impact of virtual reality technology on visual health, and the introduction of the standard will be conducive to standardizing the visual health development of virtual reality technology, and will play an important supporting role in promoting industrial technological progress and guiding the development of the industry.

In layman's terms, this set of standards can guide the future of virtual reality products more suitable for human visual health and eye habits, Yuan Jin for example, for example, the display of electronic products is getting higher and higher, if it is high enough to exceed the resolution of the human eye, the human eye needs to constantly identify, focus, but will cause eye fatigue; the refresh rate of electronic products and the physiological flutter of the human eye itself If it is not matched enough, it will also cause eye fatigue, which is the matching problem of electronic systems and people, "Our first step is to sort out, In the end what kind of products and technologies are more in line with the needs of visual health, the next step is to establish a risk assessment model between visual health and optoelectronic physical technology standards, and in the future, electronic products can evaluate whether their parameters are suitable for health needs and how to adjust them."
