Wang Anshi's miscellaneous poems are contrasting and insightful, and show the spirit of fearlessness

author:Yun Shui Xinyu

Literary creation is not only a personal matter of the author, but also related to social progress. In particular, many realistic and ancient works reflect the sufferings of the people, expose some of the shortcomings of the times, and put forward their own opinions and hopes. The reader feels empathy, resonates, and imagines, and possibly puts into action.

For example, the late Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu wrote many epic poems, and the poet's wonderful writing, ingenious ideas, and extraordinary insights left a deep impression on the reader, and at the same time intriguing. A poet in the Northern Song Dynasty was always concerned about the lives of the people, and even worked hard without sleeping or eating. The following is an introduction to a miscellaneous poem by Wang Anshi, which is clearly contrasted, insightful, and more prominent in the spirit of fearlessness.

Wang Anshi (王安石), courtesy name Jiefu (字介甫), retired to Jiangling in his later years and was given the title of Duke of Jingguo,000 in later generations. He was a progressive writer during the Northern Song Dynasty and a famous representative of the Fa. Born into a small bureaucratic family, the poet traveled with his father at a very young age, witnessed many displacements and family breakdowns, and felt great grief and excitement in his heart.

During the reign of Emperor Shenzong of Song, he served as prime minister twice, and successively implemented measures such as green seedlings and equal losses, which reduced the heavy burden of the people to a certain extent. This poem is inspired by the social background at that time, criticizing the idea that many people get something for nothing and fantasize about doing nothing.

The first two sentences quote historical legends, "Summoning the Gong Fang Bo Zun, the Material is also the Sage Ya." "Zhao Gong is in a noble position, and his talent is second only to that of Zhou Gong. Zhao Gong was a Western Zhou person, and Zhao Gong was his food, so he was called Zhao Gong or Zhao Bo. Fang Bo was the leader of the ancient princes of the party, and the saint referred to the Duke of Zhou.

The next two sentences describe the activities of summoning the public, "When the peasants are worried about the people, listen to the lawsuits of Xiao Tangxia." He was worried that when the farmers were busy, the villagers would go to the city to fight a lawsuit and delay the time, so he personally came to the countryside and listened to the lawsuit under a tang pear tree. Annoyance refers to the fear of trouble; hearing the lawsuit, listening to the opinions of both parties to the litigation, that is, handling the case.

The poet once wrote a special article pointing out that this legend was not a fact, but was created by the disciples of Kong Qiu to beautify the rule of slave owners. The author uses it as a weapon to criticize the local officials at that time who were superstitious about Confucian etiquette, despised agricultural production, and followed the rules of security.

Mencius, another representative figure of Confucianism, also said that those who work hard rule people, and those who work hard rule over people. Confucianism vigorously advocates inequality, which is entirely to maintain the rule of the feudal monarch, but let those at the lower classes have nowhere to complain after being oppressed.

The last four sentences paraphrase the actual situation, "The chief of a thousand chambers has been ashamed to ask about the cultivation of crops", which means that it is a pity that those thousand room chiefs have regarded agricultural production as a shameful thing. The head of a thousand rooms is a small leader who manages a thousand households, referring to low-level officials at the local level.

"Playing the piano in the high hall, want to do nothing", they are superstitious about Kong Qiu's lizhi thought, thinking that playing the piano on the high hall can influence the world. When Kong Qiu's disciple Mi Ziqi was an official in Shan Father (present-day Dan County, Shandong), he did not go to the church for three years, but only played the piano and sang poetry, and managed the local government in an orderly manner. In fact, this is all a distortion of the facts, but it is only a Confucian glorification of the so-called ritual rule.

Wang Anshi's poem contrasts two historical legends and criticizes the Confucian view of despising productive labor and advocating ritual rule. The author unequivocally attacks those local officials who are ashamed to ask about cultivating crops, and in fact euphemistically criticizes the corrupt nature of some Confucians who do not know how to cultivate fields and vegetables, and who are not diligent in their four bodies and do not distinguish between grains.

The author combines history and reality to show an indomitable fighting spirit, and although the reforms he advocates are only a kind of improvement and repair, they also encounter great resistance and end in failure, but the reasons are very complex. The poet's courage to expose and criticize those so-called saints and Confucians embodies a spirit of fearlessness and calls on future generations to make unremitting efforts to overthrow the feudal monarchy!
