The reason why I considered appearance was mainly because at that time, it was believed that Zhixian, as an official close to the nation, would affect the image of the imperial court if his temperament and appearance were too poor. After all, official positions are limited, and there will naturally be many candidates who pour in every year without official work. For local officials of the Qing Dynasty, in order to prevent them from favoritism, the imperial court did not allow people from the province to serve as provincial officials. Even in different provinces, officials need to work five hundred miles away from their hometowns. If there are relatives in the same province or in the yamen, the official must also recuse himself.
After the Yongzheng Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty divided different states and counties into different levels according to taxation, public security, area, location, etc. Before Zhixian took office, he could only draw lots to decide where he was going to be. For Qing county officials, the things they had to deal with were very heavy. In addition to trying cases and breaking prisons, it is also necessary to maintain local law and order, collect taxes from the imperial court, persuade farmers to cultivate fields, and educate localities. Because the Qing Dynasty had great expectations of county officials, they were completely regarded as all-round officials. Every year, when spring is established, Zhixian also symbolically goes down to the ground to help plough and cultivate, representing the beginning of spring ploughing in the year.
However, despite the complexity of affairs, the rank of county officials is very low. Except for the two counties of Daxing and Wanping in Beijing, which were classified as Jing County, the county official here was Zhengliupin. In other places, all the counties are seven products. The official system of the Qing Dynasty was divided into nine products, each of which had two levels: positive and subordinate. Therefore, Zheng Qipin belonged to a very low-level official.
Compared with Zhi County, the imperial doctor's official rank is not much better, and they are all zhengqipin. The Imperial Doctor's Gate is the Tai Hospital. Of course, not all doctors in the hospital can be called imperial doctors. Only the first class is eligible to be called a royal doctor. Usually there are only thirteen people.
