Menglian, Yunnan: The anti-drug trial enters the village, and the villagers watch the trial from zero distance

Kunming, 25 Oct (Xinhua) -- Recently, the Menglian County Court in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, extended its adjudication function and publicly tried a drug case involving villagers in Haidong Village, Mangxin Town, in the form of an "open courtroom" circuit trial, allowing villagers to feel the trial "at zero distance."

Menglian County, which borders Myanmar and borders the "Golden Triangle" region, is at the forefront of China's drug control. The anti-drug trial went into the village to pronounce judgments in court in accordance with the law on the drug trafficking case of defendants Li Moujia and Li Mouyi through court investigation, evidence production, cross-examination, and court debate.

The Menglian County Court sentenced defendant Li Moujia to three years and six months' imprisonment and a fine of RMB4,000 in accordance with law, and sentenced defendant Li Mouyi to two years and six months in prison and a fine of RMB3,000.

In the interval between the collegial panel deliberations of the trial, the Menglian County Court also used the "bilingual judge" to innovate the publicity method, using Dai to interpret the law in the case, building a "two-way" bridge, and holding a prize Q&A, which stimulated the enthusiasm of the villagers to study the law, and the villagers on the scene actively participated, and the atmosphere was warm.
