Decca Records and Walt Disney Records, a division of the Disney Music Group, have announced that they will jointly release DISNEY GOES CLASSICAL. It's a brand new album that recreates Disney's musical colors, emotions, and joys with a new lineup.
The popular Disney tracks were carefully choreographed and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London under the interpretation of the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA and a number of well-known singers and instrumentalists. This studio has produced many of the best film soundtracks of the 20th century.
The album contains classic tracks from different periods of Disney films, spanning Disney's golden age to the revival of the '90s to modern CGI animated films. From The Jungle Book and Pinocchio to Alan Menken's unparalleled soundtracks in The Wind, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Hercules, the album recreates disney's '80s magic with a cinematic sound.
The album's debut single was released today, featuring Matteo Bocelli's soulful rendition of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," a song from Disney's 90s animated classic The Lion King. The love song, written by Elton John and Tim Rice, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1994 and was also recreated in the 2019 remake of the same name animated film. Matteo sang the hit "Fall on Me" with his father, Andrea Bocelli, which was included on Andre Bocelli's hit album Sì and used as the ending song for the Disney movie The Nutcracker and the Four Kingdoms.

Matteo said, "I'm really happy to be involved in this Disney project. The Lion King was one of the most cherished films of my childhood. It was an honor for me to be able to sing the theme song of this movie. Elton John is one of my musical icons, and I have a great influence on both songwriting and stylistic presentation. I hope to inject a part of this influence into the music I'm currently working on, and I hope to share my new work with you soon. ”
The album also features four-time Grammy Award winner Renée Fleming, who reinterpreted Pinocchio's "When You Wish Upon A Star" with her beautiful singing voice.
Other special collaborations include the performance of renowned Japanese classical guitarist Yoshiori Muraji, who uses his music to transport listeners into another fantasy world. Classic Disney will resonate with listeners around the world, and hopefully this album will transfer the magic of cinema from the big screen to your headphones like never before.
Disney Goes Classical will be released by Decca Records on October 2, 2020.
