As an art educator, in the university aesthetic education work, students are educated in aesthetic education that combines art and aesthetics. While teaching students traditional culture and art, improving the aesthetics of non-art college students and using their own knowledge for preaching and teaching is the pursuit of their own social values by traditional cultural people.
In terms of academic research, traditional Chinese aesthetic theory and contemporary cultural research are indispensable academic research contents for artists. Professor Liu Tongbao, starting from traditional Chinese aesthetics, analyzed the relationship between artistic creation and traditional Chinese philosophical thought system, and compared Chinese and Western literary and art theories with calligraphy and painting in combination with cultural development trends and regional cultural characteristics, and proposed the integration and innovation of various categories of contemporary art and the cutting-edge issues of creating characteristic cultural and artistic forms.
This exhibition brings together the achievements of Professor Liu Tongbao's 30 years of artistic creation, with a total of 200 works, divided into two parts: calligraphy and painting. The calligraphy part includes calligraphy copying and creation and poetry writing and creation, calligraphy copying and creation content covers Shang Zhou Jin wen, Wei Stele, Jin and Tang Dynasty cursive copying, Calligraphy, Lishu, Seal Calligraphy, Cursive Writing, etc.; Poetry writing and creation includes ancient literary theory and ancient style poetry, as well as self-composed poems. The content of the paintings contains ten series, namely Red and Black, Zodiac Signs, I Ching, Oriental Schema, Yongzi Eight Laws, Daming Demeanor, Yunxia Carving Color, Pot Boundary, Siege of the City, and Reincarnation. Professor Liu Tongbao's calligraphy and paintings reflect his academic research on Chinese calligraphy, especially pre-Qin thought and culture. Mainly taking the Warring States Yangtze River Basin script as the starting point, it traces back to the study of the Shangbu script and the Jin script, and undertakes the study of the Qin and Han Lishu and Zhangcao, as well as the Jin Dynasty Xingshu and the Ming Dynasty Xingshu. Professor Liu Tongbao's artworks express their cultural attitudes with the historical resources and cultural systems of words, use abstract thinking in words, use contemporary art creation techniques, express oriental elements and traditional Chinese aesthetic implications, form a neoclassical aesthetic trend, and express personal calligraphy and painting creation in a high antique and elegant artistic style.
Liu Tongbao's art collection is divided into four volumes, including "Oriental Schema", "Yantian Poetry", "Wenxin Chonggu" and "Zhile Collection". The content covers art theory, literary and artistic miscellaneous talks, epic poems, abstract paintings of words, traditional aesthetic calligraphy of calligraphy, and engraving of poems and famous sentences in the literary room. It is the embodiment of Professor Liu Tongbao's thinking and innovation on art in the past 30 years, and the manifestation of neoclassical artistic aesthetics, reflecting his profound historical concept, strong traditional Chinese literati feelings and innovative artistic skills.
Professor Liu Tongbao's artistic aesthetic concepts and art forms involve the art topics that have been discussed in the art world such as cosmopolitan and national, traditional and modern, man and nature, and man and society, and the works highlight the wisdom and traditional language of the East in a unique art form.
