A gunner player is suspected of being involved in yellow card betting gambling, and the FA is launching an investigation

According to reports from The Athletic UK and Sky Sports, the FA is investigating a yellow card received by an Arsenal player in this season's Premier League matches due to suspicions of involvement in betting gambling.

Understandably, one of those involved in the bet told the FA that he had bet a large sum of money on the Gunners player being shown a yellow card in a Premier League match this season.

The FA told The Athletic: "The FA is aware of the problem and is investigating. The Athletic is aware of the player's identity, but for privacy reasons, has agreed not to disclose his name for the time being.

Multiple people in the betting industry told The Athletic that the pattern of betting around players being shown yellow cards in a game is very rare. Betting on details at sporting events, such as yellow cards, is a form of gambling known as "betting on the spot." In football, people often bet on the overall outcome of the match, i.e. the winner of the match.

However, betting on the spot involves a single outcome, which poses a lot of problems for the governing body, as a single person can decide the outcome. For example, a corner kick is awarded at a specific ten-minute interval. This could turn seemingly trivial little things into moments worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Although playing match-fixing in football leagues around the world is considered a serious problem, in Premier League matches this situation is considered very rare because of the high salaries of players.
