Idyllic

How do people, in this lifetime, live? What does it look like to live? Since ancient times, commentators have been like clouds, and the discussion is like stars, and in the end, there is no consensus. Recently, I saw a lot of unique insights in WeChat: the best way to live is one word: light!

What is light? Not chaotic in the face of danger, panic but not busy, smart but not proud, not alarmed, indifferent to fame and fortune, and so on. In short, lightness is a kind of cultivation, a kind of generosity, a kind of understanding, and a kind of letting go. Spoiled and not alarmed, idly watching the flowers blossom and fall before the court, to stay unintentional, and to follow the clouds outside the sky.

In the autumn of 2006, I was studying painting with Mr. Du Dakai at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, and several alumni met to go to Jingting Mountain in the north of Xuancheng, Anhui. Here, Li Bai wrote the poem "Sitting Alone on the Pavilion Mountain":

"The birds flew high, and the lonely clouds went alone.

Looking at each other is not tired, only Jingting Mountain. ”

Thinking back to that year, Li Bai, who was more than a year old, staggered up Jingting Mountain by himself, sat alone for a long time, touched the scenery, was very sad, lonely and desolate hit his heart, and couldn't help but chant this song that has been sung for eternity.

Just below the foothills, there is a tea farm of hundreds of acres, although it is the Mid-Autumn Festival, what comes into view is a green and vibrant tea garden scenery. In the depths of this green sea, there is a dry bungalow. The Book of Poetry. Lesser. Shinnan Mountain" said: "Nakata Yulu". Tanaka Hut, natural and simple, lives an old man of the Xianfeng Dao bone, who has worked in this tea farm all his life and is now retired to raise senior engineers. In this well-known tea garden base in the industry, almost every tea tree was cultivated, grafted and improved by him and his apprentices. He has never left this tea garden in his life, accumulated a lifetime of experience in tea plant cultivation, and is sorting out manuscripts and preparing to publish a monograph. His life is almost entirely the world of tea: in his case, tea is not only a fine drink, but also according to the different seasons of tea growth, at different times, some are used to pickles, some are used to stir-fry, and some are also used to make additives for various foods. At noon at his house, he ate a tea feast that he had never eaten before. Before leaving, I wrote a calligraphy in his simple and warm study: man as light as a chrysanthemum, and he was very happy and included it in his monograph.

At that time, facing Jingting Mountain and the emerald green tea garden, I suddenly thought of Mr. Tao Yuanming. He was in a social and political darkness, the people are not happy in the reality, but he broke through the narrow life world of the individual, to create an ideal society that is opposite to the real society, free and happy: he wrote a large number of idyllic poems such as "Peach Blossom Origin", "Return to Xi Ci", "Return to the Garden and Rural Residence" and so on, in order to pin his political ideals and beautiful visions, and open a precedent for Chinese idyllic poetry.

The subsequent generations of literati and inkers were almost all inheritors of the pastoral style, especially when their careers suffered setbacks, they wanted to find a "peach blossom garden" to cultivate their ideal life.

Bai Juyi of the Tang Dynasty was one of them. During the Tang Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, he was demoted to Sima of Jiangzhou, and he lived in Lushan With the name of "Baiju Yicaotang". Here he wrote many poems about the idyllic landscape in his mind. Among them, the mountain path leading to the "Caolu" has achieved the famous poem that has been passed down through the ages: "April in the world is exhausted, and the peach blossoms of the mountain temple begin to bloom." Long hate spring returns to nowhere, do not know to turn into this."

This pastoral style has once swept the world for thousands of years. Poets and artists of the Italian Renaissance enthusiastically embraced the idyllic style of various art forms. The most famous idyll in England is the playwright Christopher Shakespeare. Marlowe, his masterpiece is "The Amorous Shepherd to the Lover".

However, these ideal pastoral lives were not realized in that era, but as a valuable spiritual and cultural wealth, he was left to the world and became an immortal theme for Chinese literati to pursue writing.

Today, I suddenly realized: the essence of this pastoral style is one word - light!
