Wang Baoshan is an authentic Shaanxi native, born in Baoji City. In 1980, Wang Baoshan joined the Shaanxi Provincial Football Team and became the first international footballer in Shaanxi history in 1986.

In 1994, Wang Baoshan began his coaching career, which coincided with the beginning of professional football in China. He has coached many professional teams such as Yunnan Hongta, Jiangsu Sainty, Chengdu Xiefei United, Chongqing Lifan, Shenzhen Kaisa, Henan Jianye, Tianjin Teda and so on, with rich coaching experience.
