On January 17, in response to the question of why China did not allow the German frigate "Bavaria" to dock in Shanghai, our Foreign Ministry responded that the so-called cruise of German warships in the South China Sea undermined regional peace and stability, and China resolutely opposed it.
This was the main reason why the German frigate Bavaria was not allowed to dock. Because according to our regulations, foreign warships calling at port cities on the mainland must obtain the consent of the Chinese government or apply in accordance with relevant agreements and regulations. Then, according to China's arrangement, let it dock.
The logic here is that if a foreign warship wants to dock in China, it must deal with China well and maintain good relations, and those who do not obey will not want to dock in Chinese ports.
Over the past 20 years, at least 70 foreign warships have been allowed to dock by China, including the U.S. Aegis-class destroyer WELber in Hong Kong in 2002 and the USS Reagan aircraft carrier in Hong Kong in 2018.
Before docking, these warships were repeatedly refused to dock because they provoked China at sea. There are three main reasons why China has allowed these warships to dock.
First, these foreign warships can dock according to the requirements of the Chinese side and according to the details of the Chinese arrangement. Whoever comes to China must come according to our requirements.
Second, in order to manage differences and maintain regional peace. Taking Sino-US relations as an example, there are serious differences between the two sides from trade to the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, and the military confrontation between the two countries is also very fierce. China's approval of the docking of U.S. warships reflects China's desire to resolve conflicts through exchanges.
The US warship's application to visit China's port city has also released its willingness to negotiate, which is conducive to stabilizing Sino-US relations. Therefore, the docking of foreign warships in Chinese ports is not China's wishful thinking, but to see whether the other side is sincere, and for warships without sincerity, the mainland naturally does not allow them to dock.
In this regard, the German frigate Bavaria did a poor job. Since it announced in March last year that it would "free navigation" in the Indo-Pacific region, it has been cooperating with the United States in anti-China activities. On the other hand, the "Bavaria" frigate also hopes to dock in Shanghai or Qingdao port, which is a contradictory statement that not only confuses Western countries, but also makes the mainland very disgusted, and the mainland of course does not allow it to dock.
Therefore, if the "Bavaria" frigate wants to dock in the port of Shanghai, it is better to first figure out its own motives and understand China's policy.
Third, China has the right to say no. Three times in the past few years, China has explicitly rejected requests for U.S. warships to lean in. The first was after the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia, and the second after the Sino-US plane collision. The third time was after the events of 9/11.
Because these three times are related to China's national interests, security, and national dignity, it shows the mainland's determination and will never bow to the Western hegemonic forces.
In the past, we could all say no to the United States, not to mention that today we have a powerful force, let alone to the West.
It must be pointed out that after being refused to dock by China, the German frigate "Bavaria" did not dare to say anything, but insisted on taking the "economic and trade route" to win attention. Facts have proved that China's strength makes the West dare not provoke at will, and when they come to China's periphery, the first consideration is not how to cooperate with the United States to challenge China, but their own security.
If it provokes China and causes the warship to be sunk into the sea, then it is not only face that is lost, but it is likely to be economic and trade relations with China. Because without China's big market, the economies of various countries will be in a slump! Germany does not want to be hit hard by the economy, it must do a good job in its relations with China!
