German photographer Kilian Schönberger, a 28-year-old landscape photographer who lives in Cologne, was deprived of the ability to distinguish colors at birth. Nevertheless, this did not prevent him from loving nature and life, and he traveled to various European countries to find those beautiful pictures in nature from his perspective.
His work in recent years has been quite remarkable, and since the photographer is colorblind, color is like a gamble for him, so he usually has assistants to help check the color. But this "flaw" has the advantage of being able, as the photographer explains, to be able to focus more on the structure of the image and establish his own unique photographic perspective.
The scenery under his lens has a kind of natural beauty and tranquility, as if he is in a fairyland, detached and mastered in it. When we feel so nostalgic for the beauty of the morning and the composition of colors, we also think that the photographer is a natural red-green blind patient, but he took such a picture of the mood. Kilian Schönberger once said in his self-description that he often had to wait in one place for hours to wait for the perfect light in his heart, but looking at his work, it was worth the wait, maybe God closed one window for you, but he will open another window for you.
He shared his shooting techniques with us, saying that when photographing in a disorganized forest, he could not clearly distinguish between different shades of green and brown, but apart from this "obstacle", he did not care about those tones, but only focused on the morphology of the trees, which often achieved impressive composition.
Taking photographs taken at dusk and dawn as an example, he refers to this time period as the "blue hour." While shooting in the "blue moment" is a common practice for landscape photographers, photographers' appreciation of this brief period goes beyond interest in aesthetics. He said, "To me, it's a magical boundary, between the world of day of reason and the mysterious kingdom of night." ”
With such a poetic approach, the photographer's practice is not just to take photos in pursuit of perfection. Instead, he used his talents to respect, document, and understand the mysterious side of nature.
