The lack of professional coaching talents in winter sports has limited the enthusiasm and level of people's participation in sports to a certain extent. Professor Zhang Lihua has long been engaged in research related to artificial intelligence, computer vision and intelligent perception. Zhang Lihua proposed the use of artificial intelligence technology to improve the level of ice sports training. In February 2019, he led the team to cooperate with the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau to start building a demonstration system for intelligent training in ice sports.

"We use artificial intelligence technology to analyze the skeleton of ice athletes, the movements of each joint, and the posture, which is called the identification and visualization of the skeleton nodes of the sports target." Zhang Lihua introduced. After nearly two years of efforts, Zhang Lihua's team has created an intelligent ice sports training analysis system, which can allow high-definition cameras to dynamically supervise athletes in real time on the sidelines, identify the key points of bones and sports trajectories on each athlete on the monitoring screen through sports target tracking and trajectory visualization, and display the statistical information of various sports indicators. "The trajectory and posture of short-track speed skating/speed skating are clear at a glance, from qualitative coach analysis to quantitative scientific analysis." Zhang Lihua said.

During the interview, the reporter learned that for figure skating, there are more evaluation standards, and the intelligent ice sports training analysis system can help athletes improve the specification and aesthetics of posture through three-dimensional skeleton node detection and posture estimation; the visualization of the 3D model of the sports target provides a convenient way for the technical analysis of the rotation count of figure skaters. It is reported that Professor Zhang Lihua has built a demonstration system at the Changchun Ice Training Base of the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau.

During the interview, the reporter learned that the computer vision algorithm based on artificial intelligence can also monitor and analyze football players in real time, so that the "AI version of football" is no longer a dream.
