At the age of 23, he was shot 8 times in the body and died heroically. Unfortunately, his sacrifice was too early, and if he were still alive, he would certainly be able to play a greater role.
Chen Haisong's life was short and brilliant, he was born in 1914, his hometown was once Li Chenwa Village, Xuanhuadian in Luoshan, Henan, which now belongs to Hubei Dawu.
When Chen Haisong was a child, the country was full of greedy and despicable landlords and bullies, and ordinary people were oppressed by these people for a long time.
At that time, the lives of ordinary people could be described as full of water and fire. The ancients often said that people go to high places, and water flows to low places. Almost everyone longs for a relatively rich and stable life, and no one wants to be oppressed all the time.
However, a stable life does not come at all, and it is necessary to constantly struggle against the enemy in the form of revolution and to overthrow the old evil forces with great strength, so that only in this way can the broad masses of the people truly turn around.
This is a very straightforward truth, after the spread of revolutionary ideas everywhere, a large number of people bravely resisted and actively participated in the revolutionary movement. With the passage of time, the seeds of revolution have taken root and sprouted all over the country, and more and more people with lofty ideals have stepped forward with enthusiasm and resolutely joined the revolutionary organizations and followed everyone to fight together.
In 1930, Chen Haisong's hometown established Soviet power and a children's regiment. Chen Haisong, who was only 16 years old, actively responded to the call of the revolution and participated in many revolutionary struggles as the leader of the children's regiment.
At that time, Chen Haisong, who was young and vigorous, was bent on defeating the old evil warlords as soon as possible and allowing the masses of the people to truly turn themselves around. His father was afraid that Chen Haisong would never return, so he found an opportunity to arrange a marriage for him and wanted to keep him at home so as not to break the incense of the Chen family.
However, Chen Haisong's revolutionary will did not waver in the slightest. Just after the Spring Festival, he left his hometown with the Red Army and went to the front line to fight. In 1931, Chen Haisong joined the party from the regiment and, as a service soldier, followed General Xu Shiyou on his southern expedition to the northern war.
Because of his excellent performance, he was quickly promoted and reused by his superiors, and successively served as a squad leader and a platoon leader in a combat company.
When the Battle of Shuangqiao broke out, Chen Haisong was seriously wounded on the front line due to his bravery in battle. Because of this battle, Chen Haisong once again made meritorious contributions, and after recovering from his wounds, he was promoted to the head of the propaganda team of the Political Department of the 13th Division.
During his tenure, he actively promoted revolutionary ideas, influenced a large number of aspiring young people, and provided a lot of help for the early development of the organization.
After several turns, Chen Haisong came to the 36th Regiment and participated in many battles with his comrades-in-arms. Later, because of his many meritorious deeds, he was promoted to political commissar of the 36th Regiment.
After receiving his appointment, Chen Haisong was not arrogant and impatient, and continued to fight for the revolution. At the end of June 1933, he was promoted to political commissar of the Red 25th Division for his outstanding contributions.
In October of the same year, he led his troops to hold Xuanhan and other places, fighting the enemy many times. In the Xuanhan Campaign, he worked closely with General Xu Shiyou and others to let the Red Army soldiers who fought bloodily win a brilliant victory at a relatively small cost.
Chen Haisong, who had already made outstanding achievements, was once again promoted because of this exciting victory, and soon became the military political commissar of the Red Ninth Army.
General Xu Shiyou, who was Chen Haisong's superior, was the deputy commander of the Red Ninth Army at this time. The cadres who served as military commanders were seriously injured because of the previous battles. Therefore, the affairs of the Red Ninth Army were basically presided over by Chen Haisong.
At that time, the Red Ninth Army was about 20,000 people. The leaders of the organization handed over all the work of the Red Ninth Army to Chen Haisong because they believed in his ability and believed that he would certainly be able to lead the Red Ninth Army to glory. This is exactly the case, under the leadership of Chen Haisong, the Red Ninth Army has indeed grown a lot.
It is worth mentioning that although Chen Haisong has great ability, his personality is very calm. When dealing with the soldiers, there is no shelf for senior cadres at all.
He often went to the grass-roots companies, talked with the soldiers, and sometimes organized small competitions. The soldiers all felt that Chen Haisong was an approachable and trustworthy good cadre, and they were willing to listen to his command.
When the Red Army crossed the meadows, high-ranking cadres such as Chen Haisong could obtain some dry food and bacon according to the rules of the organization. But Chen Haisong has always been reluctant to eat, he often gives the dry food and bacon equipped by the logistics department to the wounded and sick soldiers to help everyone recover, and he always digs wild vegetables to eat.
His selfless behavior of preferring to starve himself to the care of the wounded has once again touched many people.
In addition, Chen Haisong also has a characteristic, that is, he loves to read. He knew he was young, and after becoming a military commissar, he had been studying hard.
He took Marxist-Leninist books and study documents with him as much as possible and took them out to study as soon as he had the opportunity. In addition to Marxist-Leninist thought, Chen Haisong's favorite study is military books.
Chen Haisong is very clear that an excellent instructor must understand a great deal of military knowledge, and only in this way can he come up with an effective strategic plan according to local conditions and help his comrades-in-arms win greater victories at a smaller cost.
In the process of learning and growing, every time Chen Haisong found a problem, he would ask experienced old comrades for advice, strive to understand all the problems thoroughly, and definitely would not be smart for the sake of the so-called face.
Chen Haisong's spirit of seeking truth and being pragmatic and studying hard not only won him the admiration of more comrades-in-arms, but also greatly improved his own ability.
In March 1937, Chen Haisong led his troops to liyuan pass, in order to better command the battle, Chen Haisong took people to the mountain pass to observe the terrain, and the result happened to meet a large group of enemy troops.
At that time, Chen Haisong's soldiers were only more than 800 people. In the face of a large number of enemy troops with a fierce momentum, Chen Haisong calmly responded, arranging for the emergency evacuation of organ personnel while leading fighters to counterattack the enemy.
In this hasty outbreak of battle, Chen Haisong was hit by enemy bullets because he was on the front line. In the end, he was shot 8 times in the body, and due to his serious injuries, he died heroically on the position at the age of 23.
Comrade Chen Haisong's heroic sacrifice is an extremely heavy loss for our Party. In May 1937, the central leadership held a memorial service on Baota Mountain in Yan'an to mourn and send off Chen Haisong and other military generals who had unfortunately died.
