Born in 1904 in Rongyuan Province (Nanluoguxiang), Pingmao'er Hutong, Beijing, Wanrong lost her mother at an early age, and her mother died when she was two years old, and was raised by her adoptive mother.
Wanrong's father was an enlightened man, and at that time he advocated equality between men and women, and in addition to teaching her piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, he also hired an English teacher to teach her English.
The photograph was taken in 1924, when Feng Yuxiang had just staged a coup d'état in the city of Beijing and had his general Lu Zhonglin lead troops to force Puyi and Wanrong to move out of the palace.
This photo shows Empress Wanrong wearing a kimono after being taken to the northeast.
Wan Rong, who had just finished smoking opium, had no eyes. In June 1946, WanRong died of illness in a prison in Yanji, Jilin Province, at the age of 40. WanRong was hastily buried after her death, and the cemetery is still a mystery.
