Zeng Huang believes that in the past fifteen years, regardless of the market environment, image collection has been developing, "from 2001 involved in video art collection, 2006 to the establishment of the image art auction platform to the present, image collection in the past twenty years, although there are ups and downs in the annual transaction volume, but the entire industry has been developing." ”
Zeng Huang analyzed the current situation of the image collection market from several aspects: First, the establishment of an evaluation system. "How to evaluate a visual artwork, from what aspects to evaluate its value, and finally determine its reference price." The evaluation system of the image collection market has been basically established and gradually improved. ”
The second is the establishment of a price system. "The price system and the difference between old photographs, documentary art photography works, and contemporary video artworks have basically been formed, and the differences and associations between sections have become relatively clear." The refinement to the interior of the plate, taking documentary video artwork as an example, the boundaries of different types in the same plate have gradually been clarified, which can be divided into two categories, one is the original original work preserved in the early production, and the other is the original work newly developed and produced with the artist's signature using the old negatives, forming a different price system.

With the development of Chinese photography collections, every year or two there will be one or two new categories, which are not fixed.

When asked about the development prospects of image collection, Zeng Huang first mentioned the development of different plates, which will have different trajectories. According to the three sections of the Old Photographs Section, the Documentary Video Artwork Section and the Contemporary Video Art Section, each section has a very specific collector. Especially in the old photo section, the collection group has maintained a stable state of development. Collectors who collect contemporary video art, after collecting for a period of time, most of them have begun to collect old photos, first, because they need to find history and origin for their own collections, and second, to teach and contemporary video works, and the cost-effective investment in old photos is very high. But collectors of old photographs are a little less likely to cross over to contemporary art collections. In this regard, we have been guiding traditional collectors to pay attention to contemporary images and open up space for the development of their old photo collections. Documentary video artworks have also shown a trend of expanding to contemporary video artworks.

There are still many institutions in Shanghai that are doing related collections, such as shanghai museums and Shanghai libraries, all of which pay attention to local photography collections. Recently, private capital and private institutions have also intervened. Guangdong and Hong Kong are the earliest and most important imported places of Chinese photography, and photography collection can be used as a variety for local cultural institutions to crush mainland provinces, but the image collection of public cultural institutions has just started, and the momentum is slightly weaker than that of other regions. ”
