Once, Ai Qing had just received a sum of money from his family asking him to return to China, and went to a Mengri restaurant on Monge Street to eat. This restaurant is owned by a French wife from Tianjin. Across the table sat a young Chinese man with long hair. Ai Qing remembers seeing him at a left-leaning rally hosted by Babisse's weekly Le Monde. This person's name is Li Youran, and after eating, he always looked at his watch, as if he was still waiting for someone. Ai Qing concluded that he couldn't afford to pay the meal ticket, so he immediately walked over and paid a meal ticket on his behalf: "I'm in for a treat." ”
After the two of them walked out of the restaurant together, Ai Qing gave him another fifty francs (ten dollars at the time) and took him to his own room on rue de Volcilar.

During the year, Ai Qing borrowed some Chinese translations of Russian literature from Li Youran, such as Gori's "The Coat", Turgenev's "Smoke", Dostoevsky's "The Poor", and Antelev's "Masquerade". Later, Ai Qing bought some French poetry collections, such as Blok's "Twelve", Mayakovsky's "Clouds in Trousers", Yesenin's "Confessions of a Tramp" and "Selected Poems of Pushkin". At the same time, I also read some other French poems, such as "Selected Modern French Poetry" and "Alcohol" by Apollinaire.
