The new 4nm flagship SoC is released: X2 large core, AMD GPU support

On January 18, Samsung officially released the long-warmed Exynos 2200, which is another 4nm flagship processor in the Android camp after the Tianji 9000 and Snapdragon 8.

It is reported that the Exynos 2200 is built by Samsung's 4nm process, and the CPU adopts a three-cluster architecture, which is composed of a Cortex-X2 core + three Cortex-A710 large cores + four Cortex-A510 small cores.

Gpu part, the Exynos 2200 integrates the Samsung Xclipse graphics processing unit based on the AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

According to the official introduction, the Xclipse GPU is between the console and the mobile graphics processor, is a very special hybrid graphics processor, composed of Exynos's "X" and "eclipse".

Important is the AMD RDNA 2 architecture, inheriting advanced graphics features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing (RT) and variable rate shading (VRS) from the PC platform.

NPU has also been greatly upgraded, doubling NPU performance compared to the previous generation, allowing for more parallel computing and enhanced AI performance, while supporting FP16 (16-bit floating point).

In terms of networking, the Exynos 2200 integrates a 3GPP Release 16 5G modem that supports sub-6GHz and millimeter wave bands. Using both 4G LTE and 5G NR signals, speeds can be increased to up to 10Gbps.

In addition, the ISP architecture has been redesigned to support a new image sensor that achieves an ultra-high resolution of up to 200 million pixels (200MP), can connect up to 7 independent image sensors, and can support 4-camera simultaneous operation, as well as 4K HDR (or 8K) recording.

The security side adds integrated secure element (iSE) to store private encryption keys, while inline encryption hardware for UFS (Universal Flash Storage) and DRAM has been improved.

The Exynos 2200 is said to be undergoing mass production and is expected to be launched by the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.
