The stronghold of Xiegezhuang, which was conquered by the troops of the Eighth Route Army in Jiaodong during the Battle of Wulonghe

In the spring of 1941, in the anti-stubborn campaign in Jiaodong, the 14th Regiment exerted the power of political work to completely eliminate the diehard troops called anti-Japanese and actually colluded with the Japanese and Kou, and made contributions to the liberation of the Asan area. From the autumn of 1941 to the spring of 1942, the Fourteenth Regiment won a victory in the anti-"sweeping" in the Dazeshan area of Pingdu County. In May 1942, Miao Yucun led his troops to remove the enemy and puppet strongholds in Twenty Mile Fort in Qixia County, and opened up the connection between the two liberated areas in the East and West Seas.

The fifth detachment took the initiative in the anti-"sweep"

At the same time as the victories and victories were frequently reported, Miao YuCun's reputation for wisdom and courage and versatility also quickly went away in the enemy and our two districts: "Miao Yu Village, Sai KongMing, where to command, where to win." In 1942, he was appointed Acting Political Commissar and Director of the Political Office of the Fifteenth Regiment of the Fifth Brigade.

Blood sprinkled on the battlefield shines brightly

The louzizhuang (now part of Nancun Town, Pingdu City) southeast of Pingdu was established in May 1942 by the Lengguan Rong Department of the Pseudo-Pingdu Security Second Regiment. A 4-meter-high polder wall was built around the village, and a trench 3 meters deep and 5 meters wide was dug outside the wall, and 8 bunkers and 16 watchtowers were built above the polder wall. There are two doors, east and west, and a wooden suspension bridge is built above the trench outside the door, and a machine gun is prepared at the head of the bridge. A battalion of the Lengbu was stationed in the stronghold. After the establishment of this stronghold, the defending enemy often went out to grab grain and seize Ding, arrested the PARTY and government personnel of the Communist Party of China, and sabotaged the anti-Japanese organization, which was a nail wedged into the South China Sea and the anti-Japanese base area in the West Sea, and the threat was extremely great.

In order to remove this nail, the Jiaodong Military Region decided that the Fifteenth Regiment of the Fifth Brigade of the Eighth Route Army, together with the Southern Naval Sub-district, would conquer it within a time limit and strive to completely annihilate the enemy.

In August 1942, according to the instructions of the Jiaodong Military Region, Xiao Jinghai, deputy commander of the South Naval Sub-district, Liu Suxian, political commissar, Wang Kuixian, commander of the 15th Regiment of the Fifth Brigade, and Miao Yucun, acting political commissar and director of the Political Office, participated in the study of combat deployment, and decided to hide the troops in the area of Hetou and Waziqiu on the 24th, block the news, and on the 25th the enemy unexpectedly launched a general offensive.

At 9:00 p.m. on August 25, according to the predetermined plan, three infantry companies and a cavalry regiment attacked from the east gate as the main attacking force, and the feint troops opened the door through the enemy detective captain at the west gate, so that the Eighth Route Army successfully broke into the polder, advanced east and west, and quickly destroyed the defending enemy battalion headquarters and the ninth and twelfth companies. After two hours of fierce fighting, most of the defending enemies, except for a few enemies such as the battalion commander, escaped from the southeast corner, and the battle ended in victory. Unfortunately, during the battle, Miao Yucun was pushed down the trench pontoon bridge by the enemy hiding around him and died heroically.

After the sacrifice of Miao Yu Village, the Jiaodong Military Region held a memorial meeting, and the Jiaodong Administrative Director's Office decided to name the district where the martyr's hometown was located as Yucun District, and the village where he was born was named MiaoYu Village. Driven by the influence of Miaoyu Village, many relatives and friends in their hometown embarked on the road of revolution. His younger brother Miao Peilan later became a political commissar of the railway soldiers, and after retirement, he created a revolutionary novel "Red Maple Leaf" based on the real deeds of his brother's death on the battlefield.

On the eve of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Miao Peilan emotionally told the officers and men of the People's Liberation Army who came to visit him: It has been more than 70 years since his brother sacrificed, and the party and the people have not forgotten him! No matter who he is, as long as he makes great contributions to the party, the country, and the people, and does not hesitate to sacrifice himself, the party, the country, and the people will never forget, will always miss you, and will always live in the hearts of the people!
