(Winter Olympics asked "Ji") Do so many ski resorts in Chongli have Winter Olympic games?
Zhangjiakou, January 18 (Reporter Li Xiaowei) As one of the venues of the Snow Sports of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, has 7 large ski resorts, which can be called one of the largest ski gathering areas in China. However, only Genting Ski Park will host the Beijing Winter Olympics.
It is understood that Genting Ski Park is the only snow competition venue in the Beijing Winter Olympics that relies on the construction and transformation of the existing ski resort, and is also one of the four major competition venues in Zhangjiakou Area, which will host 20 sub-events of freestyle skiing and snowboarding at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, as well as 8 sub-events of the winter Paralympic snowboarding obstacle chase and slope slalom. It will produce 20 Winter Olympic gold medals and 8 Winter Paralympic gold medals, making it the venue with the largest number of gold medals.

According to Chen Rongqin, deputy manager of Genting Venue Facilities, compared with other sub-events of the Winter Olympics, freestyle skiing and snowboarding have less requirements for track length and drop than alpine skiing, and the use of existing snow fields is the most ideal way to select a site, and it is also more resource-saving. In the history of the Winter Olympics, freestyle skiing and snowboarding have often been modified using existing ski slopes.
After the Beijing Winter Olympics, Genting Ski Park will resume long-term operational functions such as mass skiing and tourism and vacation, and will strive to become a base for international events and public ice and snow sports promotion. (End)
