Beijing, 17 Jan (Xinhua) -- Affected by the winter storms that hit the eastern region of the United States, a number of airlines cancelled a total of more than 2,700 flights on domestic and international routes in the United States on the 16th.
Reuters quoted the flight real-time dynamics website "Flight Tracking" data to report that as of 12:30 EASTERN TIME on the 16th (1:30 Beijing time on the 17th), more than 2,700 domestic and international flights in the United States were cancelled on the same day, and more than 1,500 flights were delayed.

American Airlines alone canceled more than 600 flights. Flight Tracker data shows that nearly 95 percent of U.S. airline flights departing from Its hub airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, North Carolina, are canceled. The company already allows travelers to rebook flights for free.
The National Weather Service said the impact of the massive winter storm on the eastern region will continue until the 17th, with maximum snowfall expected to occur along the Appalachian Mountains and the lower Reaches of the Great Lakes, with the worst icing expected in North and South Carolina.
