Tianjin, January 17 (Wang Junyan, Li Sihang) The construction of a world-class smart port in Tianjin Port has been accelerated, empowering the iterative upgrading of the port with wisdom. On January 17, Tianjin Port Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (Phase II) was unveiled, at the Pacific International Terminal operation site, a mixed formation composed of 30 artificial electric collection cards and 8 unmanned electric collection cards, in accordance with the system distribution instructions to drive accurately, loaded from the ship hoisting containers from the dock shore to the automated yard, 6 sets of automatic single car shore bridge and 8 sets of automatic four-rope tire crane fully involved in automated operations, the entire operation process is orderly.

In recent years, a variety of modern information technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 5G communications, and cloud computing have been deeply integrated with port production and operation. Based on the needs of automation and intelligent upgrading of the world's traditional container terminals, Tianjin Port Group boldly explores the integration and innovation of traditional processes and information technology, and actively explores the large-scale application of autonomous driving technologies such as unmanned electric collection cards and intelligent horizontal transportation robots (ART). The Tianjin Port Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (Phase II) was officially put into operation, marking the addition of the Pacific International Company Terminal Block on the basis of the original Container Company (North District) Terminal and the Second Container Company Terminal of Tianjin Port, which is another major achievement in the construction of a world-class smart port in Tianjin Port.

Different from the working conditions of the Tianjin Port Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (Phase I), the Pacific International Terminal is located in the East Xinjiang Comprehensive Insurance Zone, mainly receiving and unloading trunk container ships, its shoreline is distributed with 9 trestles, the yard uses automatic four-rope tire cranes, and the automation transformation and upgrading of the terminal is facing greater challenges, especially in the horizontal transportation link.

Tianjin Port Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (Phase II) will further carry out innovative practices, expand and optimize the autonomous driving fleet on the basis of the first phase of the plan, build an automated horizontal transportation management system, and realize the diversification and large-scale access and application of similar vehicle equipment. At the same time, the second phase of the plan will actively explore the expansion from closed port area application scenarios to open park application scenarios, further refine port automatic driving standards, build a port automatic driving standard system, and improve port automatic driving safety management methods.
