Wang Erxiao was born in 1929 in Shangzhuang Village, Laiyuan County, Hebei Province, in that difficult era, in 1942, when Wang Erxiao's parents and brother died early at the age of 13, he herded cattle for large households in the village in order to make a living, and thus met the local Eighth Route Army and became the leader of the children's regiment.
While herding cattle with his friend Shi Linshan, he took advantage of the terrain to take the lead in discovering a Japanese army marching towards Shangzhuang Village, and at a critical moment, Wang Erxiao asked Shi Linshan to go first to inform the Communist Eighth Route Army in Shangzhuang Village, and he himself stayed behind to negotiate with the Japanese army. At that time, the Japanese army implemented the three-light policy of "killing the light, burning the light, and robbing the light", Wang Erxiao knew that once the Japanese army entered the village, the village would not be spared, and after the Japanese army found him, the Japanese army asked Wang Erxiao to lead the way into the village, and Wang Erxiao took the Japanese army in the opposite direction, and this direction was the ambush site that the Eighth Route Army had ambushed in advance.
