Species Description: Description: Large (85 cm) brown sea pelican. It is characterized by a pale brown mouth yellow head and chest and a white tail. The nearly black feathers under the wings contrast with the dark maroon under the wings. The large tail of the mouth is short and wedge-shaped. Fly like a vulture. It is distinguished from the jade-banded sea plover in that the tail is all white. The young have spear-tip-like feathers on their breasts but do not have a jaw like a jade-banded sea eagle.
