It is said that one of the Yuan techniques is to cut down the plot of the upper soldiers, and then to cut the friendship, to subdue the fierce tigers, and to dominate Nanyang

Yuan Shao was the eldest son of Sikong Yuan Feng, Yuan Shu was Yuan Feng's second son, according to his origin, Yuan Shao should have been lower than Yuan Shu, but Yuan Shao was lucky. Yuan Feng's second brother Yuan Cheng died early, so he succeeded Yuan Shao as Yuan Cheng's concubine, and Yuan Shao's origin was already the same as Yuan Shu's.

However, later Yuan Shu also told Gongsun Zhan about Yuan Shaoshu's incident to find a sense of superiority, which can be seen in Yuan Shu's heart, feeling that in addition to his initial origin being superior to Yuan Shao, there is nothing to prove that he is stronger than Yuan Shao.

It is said that one of the Yuan techniques is to cut down the plot of the upper soldiers, and then to cut the friendship, to subdue the fierce tigers, and to dominate Nanyang

(Yuan family of the fourth and third dukes)

Yuan Shao was majestic and handsome, sensible and early, corporal Li Xian, and had made many powerful good friends since childhood, and Cao Cao was one of them. And Yuan Shu is late in understanding, when he was a child, he only loved flying eagles and lackeys, but he was chivalrous and was a simple-minded and informal young man.

In terms of official positions, the starting point of the two is higher than the end point of most people, although Feng Lu is similar, but Yuan Shao is more reused. Yuan Shao's Lieutenant Commandery and Yuan Shu's Tiger Lieutenant General Feng Lu were both more than two thousand stones, but Yuan Shao's Lieutenant Colonel He Jin strengthened his power against the eunuchs, and Dong Zhuo was both called Xiong. Moreover, in order to maintain the majesty that the lieutenant could manage anything, the level of etiquette was very high, and there was no need to worship the three dukes, and the court was ranked above the nine secretaries and below the nine secretaries when entering the congratulations.

In the scourge of the party, Yuan Shao played the role of Oscar Schindler in "Schindler's List". Together with He Yuan, Yuan Shao helped many poor and helpless soldiers escape or hide, allowing them to escape the party disaster, and Yuan Shao became famous among the scholars.

There is no harm without comparison, and the father and mother must not take Yuan Shao less to motivate Yuan Shu to work harder, but it has made Yuan Shu's classmates plant the seeds of disobedience to Yuan Shao from an early age.

(Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu stills)

At that time, Eryuan's uncle Taifu Yuan Kui and the general He Jin decided state affairs together, so Eryuan, as the leader of the new generation of Yuan of the Fourth Dynasty and The Third Duke, had the opportunity to participate in the highest decision-making events of the empire.

He Jin and Yuan Shao plotted to kill the eunuchs, and when Duan Jue and others learned of the news, they tricked He Jin into entering the palace and killed him. Yuan Shu led the Tiger Ben army to burn the Qingzhu Gate of the Nangong Jiade Hall and forced the Ten Constant Attendants to come out and prepare to kill it, but Duan Jue and others held the little emperor hostage and ran to Xiaopingjin. Yuan Shao led his army to kill the eunuchs when they saw them, reaching more than 2,000 people, and this act of slaughtering eunuchs greatly increased the prestige of the second Yuan, especially Yuan Shao in the hearts of the people of the shi clan.

Dong Zhuo entered Luoyang to depose the emperor, and Yuan Kui, one of the decision-makers of the empire, immediately saw the wind and made a rudder and supported Dong Zhuo in deposing the emperor. Compared with his uncle, Yuan Shao showed respectable discipline, did not agree to depose the emperor, and fled to Jizhou with a long sword, which increased his prestige again.

In order to win over the Yuan family, Dong Zhuo gave Yuan Shu the title of general of the Posthumous Title, with the rank of Shangqing, above Yuan Shao.

Cao Cao also fled Luoyang and ran to Guandong soon, Yuan Shu rumored that Cao Cao was dead, so that the people who came to Luoyang with Cao Cao from their hometown were planning to return to their hometown, Cao Cao's wife, and later Empress Bian told them, Cao Cao is not necessarily dead, if you go home today, will you have a face to see you again when he returns? If he really dies, why should we die together! In this way, the family was able to completely complete. (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biography of Later Concubines)

We can see from this small matter that Yuan Shu talks and is frivolous.

It is said that one of the Yuan techniques is to cut down the plot of the upper soldiers, and then to cut the friendship, to subdue the fierce tigers, and to dominate Nanyang

(Topographic map of Luoyang, Luyang and Nanyang)

When Yuan Shu saw dong zhuo deposing the emperor like this, the matter was a bit big and unpopular, and he also fled south with the Tiger Ben army to Luyang (present-day Lushan County, Henan Province) on the border between Nanyang and Yuzhou.

Yuan Shao ran to Jizhou because the new Jizhou Mu Hanfu was a protégé of the Yuan family, and Yuan Shao now had a high prestige and could calmly gather talents here. Sure enough, as soon as his friends in the imperial court operated, Dong Zhuo made him the Bohai Taishou under Han Fu's rule.

The main reason why Yuan Shu ran south was that he was close to his hometown of Runan, and he could get strong support from his family and protégés.

However, the Yellow Turban Army in Runan County and Yingchuan County in Yuzhou had been making a lot of noise in recent years, and the Tiger Army brought out by Yuan Shu had limited troops, and it was difficult to return directly to Runan.

The former Yuzhou Mu Huanghuan was transferred to the capital by Dong Zhuo as Situ and Taiwei successively, and appointed Kong Ling, who was famous among the scholars, as the Assassin of Yuzhou and Zhang Zhi as the Taishou of Nanyang.

What they had in common with Han Fu, Liu Dai, Zhang Mi, and others who had been appointed in the same batch was that they were all anti-Dong Zhuo, so with Zhang Zhi's acquiescence, Yuan Shu was able to settle down in Luyang.

Just when Yuan Shu was under the fence and unable to exert his ambitions, pie fell from the sky. Taishou Qiaoqiao of Yanzhou East County made a fake Letter of Three Dukes, passed it on to Yanzhou County, and organized a rebel army to fight against Dong Zhuo.

So the Dong Alliance with Yuan Shao as the leader of the alliance was established, and Yuan Shu naturally would not miss this opportunity, but Yuan Shu's title was higher than Yuan Shao's, and it was easy to do, Yuan Shao self-proclaimed himself as a general and suppressed Yuan Shu's rear general.

Wang Rui of Jingzhou and Sun Jian of Changsha also joined the rebels, but these two men had a festival, so Sun Jian specially set out from Changsha and ran to Hanshou (present-day Hanshou County, Changde City, Hunan Province) to kill Wang Rui, and then went north to Nanyang.

On the way to Nanyang, Sun Jian already had tens of thousands of troops, but now there were two problems in front of him: first, tens of thousands of mouths to eat, military food; second, the rebels had not yet assembled, they killed their superiors and allies, fearing that the allies would not tolerate it.

It is said that one of the Yuan techniques is to cut down the plot of the upper soldiers, and then to cut the friendship, to subdue the fierce tigers, and to dominate Nanyang

(Sun Jian of the Tiger of Jiangdong)

Our Yuan Shu has been free-ranged since childhood, and his intelligence has developed particularly well, and he has already helped Comrade Sun Jian think of solutions to these two problems. He sent people to communicate with Comrade Sun Jian who went north, and reached a series of agreements, so "Yuan Shubiao Jian false Lang General" ("Xiandi Chunqiu").

Nanyang Taishou Zhang Zhi may have read too much, which is particularly interesting. On the one hand, all the other local officers released by Dong Zhuo joined the Allied forces, but he did not. On the other hand, he agreed to provide Luyang to Yuan Shu's garrison, and Sun Jian was a little defenseless when he arrived in Nanyang, eating and drinking with a big grin.

When everyone is in line, people who don't stand on either side are the least valuable. In addition, Nanyang was the largest county in the late Han Dynasty, with a population of more than 2.4 million, which is where soldiers and grain are widespread. Therefore, Sun Jian casually found a reason to kill Zhang Zhi, and the entire Nanyang clan was shaken, asking for what to provide.

Therefore, Sun Jian went north to Luyang and Yuan Shuhui and officially surrendered to Yuan Shu, who sent troops everywhere to take over all parts of Nanyang.

After Wang Rui was killed by Sun Jian, Dong Zhuo appointed Liu Biao as the Assassin of Jingzhou, but was blocked by Yuan Shu and Sun Jian's army at Luyang and could only ride to Yicheng. Because of his unstable foothold, he could only accept the fact that Yuan Shu occupied Nanyang, and in order to stabilize Yuan Shu, he asked Yuan Shu to be the Taishou of Nanyang.

Because the Han Dynasty practiced the Three Reciprocal Laws, Yuan Shu was a native of Runan County, Yuzhou, and could not serve as the Assassin of Yuzhou and the Taishou of Runan, so he went to his cousin Sun Jianxing to break the general and lead the History of the Yuzhou Assassin.

From this, we can see that the three solutions that Yuan Shu originally proposed for the two problems faced by Sun Jian were all realized:

First, Sun Jian led tens of thousands of horses to join Yuan Shu, who had several thousand people, and used Yuan Shu's identity and status and relationship with yuan shao, the leader of the alliance, to find an opportunity to wash away Sun Jian's killing of Wang Rui. In the end, Sun Jianxing broke the general and led the History of Yuzhou to assassinate, and achieved it.

Second, Sun Jian helped Yuan Shu to capture Nanyang, and Yuan Shu solved the grain problem of Sun Jian's army. Sun Jian's grand ceremony sent the chief Shi Gongqiu to return to the prefecture to supervise military food, and Sun Jian's follow-up war Yuan Shu provided military food, which was achieved.

Third, for Sun Jian's defection to Yuan Shu and his help in obtaining Nanyang County, Yuan Shu's reward for Sun Jian was Yuzhou. Sun Jian became the Assassin of Yuzhou and also achieved it.

"Sun Tzu's Art of War: Plotting to Attack": "The upper soldiers cut down the plot, the second cut the exchange, the second cut the troops, and the lower attack on the city; the method of attacking the city is a last resort." It was through strategy and diplomacy that Yuan Shu was able to dominate Nanyang.
