On January 12, at the press conference on the development of the automobile industry in 2021 held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that the recovery of global automobile consumption, the transformation and upgrading of Chinese brands and other factors have jointly promoted the sustained growth of the overseas development of Chinese brand automobiles, and it is expected that the growth rate of China's automobile exports will be about 20% in 2022.
According to the export statistics caliber of vehicle enterprises, in 2021, China's automobile exports will be 2.015 million units, an increase of 1 times year-on-year, accounting for 7.7% of total automobile sales, an increase of 3.7 percentage points over the previous year. In terms of sub-models, passenger car exports were 1.614 million units, up 1.1 times year-on-year, and commercial vehicle exports were 402,000 units, up 70.7% year-on-year.
It is worth mentioning that the export performance of new energy vehicles is outstanding, with 310,000 vehicles exported in 2021, an increase of 3 times year-on-year. The European market has become a major incremental market, mainly concentrated in Developed Countries such as Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Norway, reflecting the international competitive advantage of China's new energy vehicles.
Statistics show that in 2021, the exports of Chinese brand automobile companies have shown rapid growth. Among the top ten export enterprises, compared with the same period last year, 9 Chinese brand automobile companies showed rapid growth, of which 4 enterprises exported more than 100%.
In addition, Chinese car companies such as SAIC Motor, Great Wall Motor, and Geely Automobile have laid out factories overseas and begun to play a better role. These directly invested factories have supported Chinese brands to take root overseas and laid a solid foundation for future growth.
