The sky is overcast, misty and snowy. On the 14th, on the street of Xiaofangtou Village, Hanzhuang Town, Weishan County, Jining City, Shandong Province, more than 100 people looked solemn and slowly moved forward, tearfully bidding farewell to Sun Jinliang, a veteran of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and a witness to the Nanjing Massacre.

Sun Jinliang, born in 1920 in Weishan County, Jining City, is the only survivor of the Nanjing Massacre that can be found in Shandong, and died quietly at home at 23:06 on January 11, 2020, at the age of 100.

In 1937, at the age of 17, Sun Jinliang abandoned his pen and surrendered, and with full of enthusiasm for serving the country, he secretly went to Nanjing without his family and participated in the rescue work of the wounded soldiers of the Battle of Songhu. After the fall of Nanjing, he nearly fell under the Japanese machine guns several times after witnessing the Nanjing Massacre.

"Looking through the train window at my adobe house, I may never be able to go back here." This is what Sun Jinliang said when he told himself before he went to the battlefield. According to the recollection of his daughter-in-law Zhang Jianping, in Sun Jinliang's narration, the corpses and wounded soldiers of the Chinese defenders all over the city of Nanjing, and the atrocities committed by the Japanese army on the side of the "mass grave" are scenes that he will never forget in his lifetime.

According to Sun Jinliang's account, Zhang Jianping told the China News Network reporter that 82 years ago, shortly after Sun Jinliang arrived in Nanjing, the defense war of Nanjing began, and he transported wounded soldiers on the position for many consecutive days. He said that the position was littered with the corpses and wounded soldiers of the Chinese defenders, and the scene was tragic, and the wailing echoed. At that time, his clothes were thin, but he did not feel cold, and he was covered with mud and blood. ”

Zhang Jianping once heard Sun Jinliang recall that in that year, he and the defenders of Nanjing were pulled to the "mass grave" side of the "machine gun roll call", and everyone stood in rows at the side of the pit, the machine guns swept by, and the people fell down in rows. In order to prevent missed killings, the Japanese armed with bayonets took turns stabbing the victims who showed signs of life. When Sun Jinliang arrived, he was pulled out of the "death team" because he did not join the army and became a coolie. And his classmate Wang Xiaofang never returned in this "roll call".

Sun Jinliang, who escaped death, turned into a crisis again, and the same team was escorted to the "place of death", but on the way, he was suddenly dragged out of the team to carry heavy objects, and once again rubbed shoulders with the god of death. In addition, the Japanese officers also raised their guns to force him to participate in the act of aggression, but under Sun Jinliang's statement that he "needed to go home first to seek the opinions of his parents", he cleverly escaped again.

Sun Zhongqing, the younger son of Sun Jinliang, told the China News Network reporter that in his father's recollection, the japanese army's bombing and atrocities for several days left the city of Nanjing full of corpses and rivers of blood. Out of the city, to the river, facing the blood-red river, Sun Jinliang did not know where to go.

In 1938, Sun Jinliang applied for the Whampoa Military Academy, became an artillery scientist in the first corps of the sixteenth phase of the school, and enlisted in the army in Tongliang County, Chongqing. In 1941, after graduating from the Whampoa Military Academy, Sun Jinliang went to the artillery battalion of the 65th Division of the 15th Army in Luoyang as a battalion commander and participated in the "Luoyang Defense War". At the end of 1948, Sun Jinliang, who was reluctant to participate in the war anymore, returned to his hometown. In 2015, Sun Jinliang was awarded the 70th Anniversary Medal for the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

"There are no obvious wounds on his body, but some of the wounds engraved in his heart will never heal." Zhang Jianping said that whenever Sun Jinliang saw anti-Japanese film and television works, he could always recall the painful memories of that year, and it was difficult to calm his emotions. Caring about current affairs is Sun Jinliang's habit, "'News Network' is a must-see for him every day. ”

In the eyes of the villagers, Sun Jinliang is extremely charitable and full of justice. Liu Benlong, a villager in Xiaofangtou Village, confided that on weekdays, Sun Jinliang was kind to the world and could talk to people of all ages. "Everyone regretted and saddened his death, and many people spontaneously attended his funeral."

"Away from the hate, the song falls." For the sake of putting mulberry blood and clothes. Cold General Wu Hook, non-bloodthirsty, bitter... Ten years in the vast, everything is gone, and people are not separated? Granddaughter Sun Xiaoting composed a poem for Sun Jinliang called "The General", "The poem incorporates Grandpa's narration and the emotions I want to express, treats it as a continuation of thoughts, and passes on Grandpa's persistence and perseverance." ”

Sun Xiaoting said that in the eyes of outsiders, parting is sooner or later, but in the hearts of my family and me, this grief cannot be expressed in words. "It is my regret that I did not write a book about my grandfather's life and send it to him." (End)
