On January 12, the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission disclosed on the 12th that in response to the current emergence of the Aomi Kerong mutant strain, the Shanghai New Crown Pneumonia Medical Treatment Expert Group and front-line medical staff have been paying attention to the changes that the mutated virus strain may bring to clinical treatment, and continue to strengthen disease monitoring, pay attention to timely symptomatic support and treatment, and strengthen the allocation of high-quality medical forces in the process of treatment. The expert group said that according to the clinical treatment experience, patients who received the new crown vaccine, especially the booster injection, had milder symptoms and less severe illness.

On the same day, 18 new crown patients were carefully diagnosed, treated and nursed by the medical staff of the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, evaluated by the expert group, and were cured and discharged from the hospital in line with the latest diagnosis and treatment plan of the National Health Commission for novel coronavirus pneumonia. Of the 18 confirmed cases, 17 are Chinese and 1 is of French nationality. Aged between 21 and 64 years, the disease is classified as mild or normal. During his stay in the hospital, doctors gave treatment measures such as anti-infection, traditional Chinese medicine, strengthening nutrition and symptomatic support, and now recovered and discharged.

Ms. Jin, 26, entered Shanghai from the UK and was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 on December 11 last year and sent to the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center for treatment. Ms. Jin said that although she was hospitalized for up to 1 month, the doctor's professional skills and the nurse's intimate care made her not worry or nervous at all. As an "old patient", she also took the initiative to act as a psychological counselor to conduct psychological counseling for depressed patients. Little Chinese New Year's Eve she will have a birthday, and today's discharge is an early birthday gift for her.

According to the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, after the patient is infected with the new crown, about 7-10 days is the watershed period, as long as timely symptomatic support treatment is given, the vast majority of patients begin to improve, but there are also a small number of patients during this period may have aggravated condition, so for patients with advanced age or high risk factors such as underlying diseases, medical staff will give close monitoring around the clock. Doctors will give the best treatment measures according to various laboratory indicators, imaging tests, combined with clinical conditions.

With the recent increase in imported cases abroad, the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center has coordinated the high-quality medical resources in the hospital and made sufficient personnel and bed reserves. At the same time, according to the characteristics of the disease, we will continue to adjust the treatment measures, strengthen humanized services, and improve the level of treatment from the aspects of mental health, language translation, diet management, and batch treatment. After being cured and discharged from the hospital, the patient will be transferred to the isolation point for two weeks, during which the health department will carry out follow-up management such as regular nucleic acid testing for the patient.

At present, "14+7" health management measures are implemented in Shanghai for inbound personnel, that is, "14 days of centralized isolation + 7 days of independent health observation". What to do during the 7-day voluntary health observation? Shanghai clarifies the "six noes" principle. Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, explained the "six noes" principle: Personnel during the period of independent health observation are not allowed to take public transportation; they are not allowed to eat together or dine in; they are not allowed to go out to watch movies, theaters, or exhibitions; they are not allowed to participate in crowd gathering activities; they are not allowed to go to shopping malls, supermarkets, office buildings, playgrounds and other crowd gathering places; and they are not allowed to go to closed environments such as chess and card rooms and KTV.

In addition to treating patients with simple COVID-19 infection, the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center has also admitted three cases of COVID-19 co-infected with malaria in the past month. Due to the timely discovery and proper treatment, the 3 patients have recovered and been successfully discharged after systematic treatment. Dr. Zhao Jun of the hospital told reporters that the 3 patients all departed from Africa and entered Shanghai after the transfer. Because the symptoms of malaria are also fever and diarrhea, similar to the symptoms of new crown pneumonia, it is easy to cause misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. The Public Health Center successfully located the malaria pathogen and promptly used antimalarial drugs. Due to the timely diagnosis and rapid medication, 3 patients with new crown and malaria were successfully recovered and discharged from the hospital. (End)
