According to the IDC report, the PC industry's total shipments in 2021 were 348.4 million units, up 14.8% compared to the full year of 2020. However, it is worth noting that the shipments of PC in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by only 1% from the same period of the previous year to 92.653 million units. IDC analysts believe that the slowdown in the growth of the PC market is largely due to the fact that many PC components, such as graphics cards and high-performance SSDs, are still in tight supply.
Tom Mainelli, vice president of IDC's Devices and Consumer Research Group, said:
"The challenging logistics environment coupled with continued supply shortages means that PC shipments could have been higher in 2021. At the end of 2021, there are still many buyers and consumers waiting for their PC orders to ship. As we enter the first half of 2022, we expect supply to continue to be constrained, especially in the business sectors with the strongest demand. ”
As can be seen from the chart in the report, the world's top 5 PC brand shipments have increased to varying degrees, the largest is 22.1% Apple, while the least HP also has a 9.3% increase, Dell, Lenovo and Acer have a 14% to 18% growth.
However, compared with the data of the fourth quarter of 2020, it can be seen that the increase in shipments in the same period is very small, Lenovo, HP and Acer shipments have declined, relying on the growth of Dell, Apple and Asus to maintain the fourth quarter of shipments in a positive growth state.
