On January 10, local time, the British Crown Prosecution Service released 9 new charges against the 47-year-old Carrick, including 6 rape charges and 1 attempted rape charge. The allegations involved 4 women and the related cases allegedly occurred between 2009 and 2018.

Carrick was first accused of rape last October after a woman he met on a dating app accused him of forcing her to get drunk and having sex with her against her will. Carrick denied the allegation, but then 3 more women came forward to say that Carrick had raped them. Now, a total of 8 women accuse Carrick of rape.

Carrick is now charged with a total of 29 crimes against 8 women between 2009 and 2020, including 13 rape charges, 5 sexual assault charges and 3 coercion and control charges, among others. Carrick has now been suspended and will respond to the latest allegations in Westminster Magistrates Court on the 12th.

At the time of His arrest last October, Police Chief Cressida Dick said she was "deeply concerned" about the allegations against Carrick but would not take further positions while the criminal proceedings were underway.

Carrick's case was one of several scandals that rocked the London Police last year. Last September, a police officer named Wayne Couzens was sentenced to life in prison for wrongfully imprisoning, raping and murdering Sarah Everard last March. It is understood that Carrick and Kuzans served in the same unit, and the first woman to sue Carrick said she decided to stand up after hearing Kuzszance's verdict.

Data obtained by British media shows that in the past 11 years, around 771 police officers and staff in the London Police have faced sexual misconduct charges, and only 83 have been fired. During this period, 163 officers were arrested for sexual offences at the London Police, 38 of whom were later convicted. (Editor: HHJ)
