Tesla motors are now becoming the car of choice for police departments because they are efficient, do not pollute the environment, and can significantly save on charging and maintenance costs. After research, the North Judson City Councilor, Indiana, approved the purchase of a Tesla Model Y for the police department's patrol.
In the fall of 2021, the City of North Judson, Indiana, began considering buying Tesla electric cars for the North Judson Police Department, as they believed that the cost of charging and maintaining electric vehicles would be significantly lower than that of gasoline cars. After reviewing the issue, North Judson City Councillor authorized Mayor Kelly Fisher to buy a Tesla Model Y to supplement the police department's convoy, WKVI reported.
The Tesla Model Y will be the first electric vehicle in the Indiana North Judson Police Department fleet, with annual energy costs estimated to be less than one-fifth of what the city currently uses to refuel its existing vehicles, while maintenance costs will also be significantly reduced. The car was purchased for $50,990 (about 325,000 yuan) and the waiting time for pickup was several weeks.
