Berlin, January 12 (Xinhua) -- Data released by the German BMW Group on the 12th showed that despite the challenges of the new crown epidemic and chip shortage, the group's sales in the Chinese market in 2021 reached a new high for the second consecutive year.
According to the data, in 2021, the BMW Group delivered about 2.522 million vehicles in the global market, an increase of 8.4% over the previous year; of which 846,000 BMW and MINI brand cars were delivered in the Chinese market, an increase of 8.9% over the previous year.
Gao Le, President and CEO of bmw group greater China, said that 2021 is a challenging year, but BMW's business in China has reached a new level. Looking to the future, BMW will continue to develop in the same frequency and synergy with China's economy and society, especially to promote the electrification process and support China's sustainable development.
Since 2014, the BMW Group has delivered nearly 140,000 new energy vehicles in China. Among them, in 2021, the sales volume of new energy models in China exceeded 48,000 units, an increase of 69.6% over the previous year.
In 2020, the BMW Group delivered around 777,000 BMW and MINI brand cars in the Chinese market, the best sales record since entering the Chinese market in 1994. (End)
