In 1953, a woman in Beijing became seriously ill and told her husband on her deathbed: I was once a princess of the Qing Dynasty

Wen Xiu, the concubine of the last emperor Puyi, although the concubine is famous, but it is comparable to the "empress", which is mainly because Wen Xiu has done a more earth-shattering thing, that is, divorce from Puyi. It is hard to imagine that this kind of shocking work could have come from the hands of this weak woman.

Wen Xiu was born on December 20, 1909 in Dafangjia Hutong, Chaoyangmen District, Dongcheng District. She is the second daughter of the Ordet clan Duan Gong, although the family has fallen in the middle of the road, Wen Xiu still learned piano, chess, calligraphy and painting since childhood.

After Duan Gong's death, Wen Xiu also moved out of the ancestral home Dafangjia Hutong with his mother and four sisters to live in a todayao rent house in the flower market.

During the study period, Wenxiu went to school during the day and picked flowers at night to earn tuition, even if life was difficult, but Wenxiu was intelligent and studious, and his grades had always been excellent, and he renamed himself Fu Yufang.

It was not until Wen Xiu was 13 years old, that is, in 1922, because Wen Xiu was elected as a palace concubine, that the mother and daughter four moved away from the headlines of the flower market and moved into Daxiangfeng Hutong. Only then did it end the shabby "civilian life".

In 1922, Wen Xiu's photograph was selected as an imperial concubine, and Ben was made empress, but was named "Lady Shu" because of the opposition of Duan Kang. With a vision of love and marriage, the 13-year-old Wen Xiu rode into the Forbidden City on a yellow drapery palanquin sent by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but what she did not know was that this was the beginning of her unfortunate married life.

Wen Embroidery was a concubine, and entered the palace one day before Empress Wanrong. Although the appearance of the first-time literary embroidery in the palace is not the best, it is still very attractive to Puyi because of his knowledge and learning.

Therefore, in the first year of becoming intimate with Puyi, the young couple got along very harmoniously and sweetly. Puyi had nothing to do and went to Changchun Palace, that is, the palace of Wen embroidery, to oppose her poetry, and also took great pains to buy a phonograph for her to listen to the play, seeing that she loved embroidery as a female red, and even bought high-grade silk needles and threads for her.

Puyi's behavior also touched Wen Xiu, and the two cared for each other. Wen Xiu is a traditional woman in her bones, she is dignified and quiet, but too calm and introverted, compared to the lively and active Wanrong, Puyi gradually put her mind on Wanrong.

WanRong grew up in a wealthy family, studied some Western-style gadgets, and moved them into the Forbidden City. Since Wanrong lived in the Chuxiu Palace, the Chuxiu Palace has become a world of Western-style things. Puyi, whoever is unhappy, will go to the Chuxiu Palace to play with Wanrong and play with those strange things.

Puyi even built a tennis court for Wanrong to play tennis, and also bought bicycles for the two to travel to the Forbidden City together. The two grew closer.

Puyi also rarely went to Changchun Palace again, and Wenxiu could only rely on reading to pass the time. But even so, the jealous Wanrong would always sneer at her every time she saw Wenxiu. In her heart, she even looked down on this "lady concubine" whose appearance and family situation were not as good as hers.

Wen Xiu was treated like this, and there was a loss, but he was soon relieved. She loves to read, enriches herself with books every day, and it is also at this stage that she learns a lot of new ideas.

In 1924, Feng Yuxiang launched the "Beijing Coup", and Puyi was expelled from the palace. After Wen Xiu got the news, he actually wanted to die and be martyred, but fortunately he was stopped by the eunuch and only stayed alive, which shows that Wen Xiu's temperament was strong.

The other side, Puyi, was imprisoned in the Prince Of Alcohol Palace for more than 20 days before regaining his freedom, but he could not return to the Forbidden City, and Puyi, who was not willing to go down, was ready to cooperate with the Japanese.

Wan Rong is content with pleasure, and she will not raise any objections to what Puyi has done, as long as it does not affect her living standards. But Wen embroidery is different, she is traditional in her bones, and she has read books, and she knows the great righteousness of the nation, and when Puyi put forward this idea, she resolutely opposed it.

She understood that once she turned to the Japanese, it would be tantamount to luring wolves into the house, and sooner or later she would become their puppets. Puyi and Wenxiu began to have serious differences since this moment.

In 1925, Puyi arrived at the Tianjin Japanese Concession with Wanrong and Wenxiu, in this modern city, Wanrong was like a fish in the water, mixed with Puyi in the major social circles, Wenxiu had long seen the truth behind the drunken gold fans, her advice was ineffective, but was beaten into the "cold palace" by Puyi. After repeated insults and humiliations, Wen Xiu gradually calmed down and sobered up, she could not wake up this "emperor", what she had to do was to divorce this "husband" who could not recognize reality. With the help of his sister Wen Shan, he finally managed to escape Puyi's control.

In 1931, Wen Xiu and Puyi finally formally divorced. With the 55,000 yuan alimony given by Puyi, Wen Xiu returned to Beijing, renamed herself Fu Yufang, and found a position in a private primary school, but because she was once an imperial princess, people around her have always pointed fingers at her.

Due to harassment, she had to resign. Because he was not good at financial management, WenXiu's alimony was gradually spent, and in order to maintain his livelihood, he engaged in many jobs.

In 1947, after being introduced, Wenxiu and Liu Zhengang married, and after the two got married, they began a new life of anonymity, which was also the happiest time for Wenxiu.

After liberation, the two were isolated and examined for identity issues until 1951, when Liu Zhendong was released from control and assigned to work in the Xicheng District cleaning team. In 1953, Wen Xiu suddenly fell seriously ill, and before dying, he told her husband: I was the Imperial Concubine Wen Xiu of the Qing Dynasty.

Wen Xiu's life was miserable, from the death of his father at an early age, to entering the palace as a concubine, and finally divorcing Puyi. But her life was wonderful, brave and decisive, tenacious and self-reliant. No one's life is complete, and so is the embroidery, and neither are we.
