Recently, a job posting from Microsoft showed that it is advancing its meta-universe product plan and has set up a new studio called Vortex. Microsoft is currently hiring senior designers to join the project, and it looks like the company is focusing on building a more reality-based metaversic concept.

"Vortex is a new studio within the Microsoft Mixed Reality Group that explores the cutting edge of products, combining collaborative science, a mission to benefit the planet, and entertainment while driving the frontiers of technology," it wrote in a job posting. We are looking for a senior designer to join our team as we define the future of mixed reality experiences. In this role, you'll work closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to advance narrative design into the UX workflow. You'll deliver a persistent experience spanning HoloLens, VR, and physical locations, laying the groundwork for the next era of interactive entertainment. "

Although there is not enough Vortex information to know from this job posting, what we can see is that Microsoft has joined the competition in the metaverse. It's a race that could include almost all mainstream tech companies, and while those companies may all be working with Meta in the metaverse, they also don't want to be tied to a specific vision of the metaverse.

Therefore, it is expected that different metaversms will appear in several tech giants, such as Microsoft's metaverse, Apple's metacosm, and so on. Of course, this situation is unlikely to last long, and eventually there will be a unified virtual space, either a merger of tech companies or a complete winner.

At some point, the metacosm must become like the Internet, becoming a single open space in which every company can grow.

Interestingly, yesterday there was news that Microsoft had poached more than 100 employees by Meta in the past year. It's clear, though, that Microsoft is also looking for experts in this area, and the formation of Vortex could also provide a reason for more talent to choose Microsoft over Meta.
