Guan Wei, a doctor of calligraphy at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Born in 1967 in Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province, Kuan Wei Ting, was admitted to the Calligraphy Art Research Office of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1992, where he studied calligraphy with Wang Yong, Chen Ping, Liu Tao and Liu Shaogang, and is currently a doctor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a teacher of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a member of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a visiting professor of calligraphy at the Shandong Academy of Arts, and an advisor to the Shandong Calligraphers Association.
Mr. Guan Wei lived in the countryside when he was a child, and when he was in elementary school, he had a red drawing class, and after drawing well, the teacher would draw a circle next to it, indicating that he had studied very hard, and it was such a circle that gave him the motivation and encouragement to learn calligraphy, and from then on he began to write and embark on the road of calligraphy.
If the red painting when he was a child made him fall in love with a seed planted by calligraphy, then when he really reached junior high school, the seed of calligraphy sprouted. Out of great interest in calligraphy, Guan Wei spent a long time saving some money, and painstakingly used a few dollars to buy a copy of the original work "Ming and Qing Dynasty", although it was very expensive, it was of great help to his writing.
In this way, he wrote that in high school, even if it was the most tense time of the college entrance examination, he still insisted on practicing calligraphy, but the practice at that time was not guided by the teacher, the calligraphy was less chaptery, and the practice without rules was obviously half the work.
The real profound understanding of calligraphy is that Mr. Guan Wei lived in Australia for more than ten years, in a peaceful life he felt the greatness of Chinese calligraphy classics, at that time he had an epiphany, calligraphy originally had a strict chapter and brushwork.
This also triggered him to think more about calligraphy, especially when he saw that there were calligraphers who casually waved a large brush, did not pay much attention to law, order, specifications, had no sense of beauty to speak of, and did not see the rules, so calligraphy became meaningless. For calligraphy, Lieutenant Kang deeply understands that calligraphy cannot be vented, and must be written in a warm environment.
Draw nourishment from classics! In 2007, Mr. Kang Wei was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts to study for a doctorate in calligraphy, under the supervision of Mr. Qiu Zhenzhong.
For the study of calligraphy, Mr. Kuan Wei particularly emphasized the need to respect tradition, and the study of calligraphy is only one way to copy, and to draw nourishment from classic works. The brushwork of calligraphy is very subtle, and in the life of ancient literati doctors, the most indispensable or lacking thing is calligraphy.
Until now, Mr. Guan Wei still insists on copying at least three or four hours a day, at the same time, he also reads various ancient calligraphy theory articles, calligraphy to the end, look at the breath expressed by the word, such a breath needs both literature, aesthetics, calligraphy theory support, but also personal rich experience, this is the so-called word like its person.
A lot of copying, a lot of training, coupled with the individual's own humanistic cultivation, can write the calligraphy of the great weather. Mr. Kang Wei's calligraphy works have been selected into the "Fifth Exhibition of Seal Engraving Works of Young and Middle-Aged Calligraphers in China" and the "Seventh Exhibition of Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Works of Young and Middle-Aged Calligraphers in China" and won the third prize.
