Fisker launches the world's first digital radar to improve ocean safety in pure electric SUVs

According to foreign media reports, Fisker, a supplier of electric vehicles and advanced mobility solutions, showcased its Ocean pure electric SUV at CES 2022, highlighting its advanced advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and launching the world's first digital radar. The ADAS platform Fisker Intelligent Pilot integrates four sensors: the industry-leading surround view camera suite, a camera-based driver monitoring system, ultrasonic technology, and Fisker Ocean, a digital imaging radar system expected to be produced and launched in November 2022.

Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker, said: "With an asset-light, rapid product development business model, we can quickly bring these advanced active security systems to market. Fisker Intelligent Pilot and Fisker Digital-Imaging combine a reliable ADAS camera with the first 4D digital radar on the market to provide industry-leading safety for Fisker Ocean Sport, Top-of-the-line Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One owners. ”

With five units located around Fisker Ocean, Fisker's industry-first, digital-code-modulated radar system confirms and enhances what the camera sees. The system also provides additional perception in conditions of severe weather and excessive solar glare, and outperforms analog radar systems. For example, Fisker digital radar can locate vehicles at 200 meters and pedestrians at 80 meters.

The system can also better distinguish between surroundings in high-light and dark contrast environments, such as tunnels and bridges, as well as objects of different sizes and speeds on highways, such as cars, trucks, and motorcycles. In addition, Fisker digital radar can separate objects from the background and detect low-lying road obstacles.

Combined with its capabilities, Fisker Intelligent Pilot's perception stack blends with cameras and radar sensors to make better decisions on highways, urban traffic, and inclement weather.

To ensure driver concentration when the system starts, Fisker Intelligent Pilot uses an internal camera mounted on the A-pillar to monitor drowsiness and concentration.

Fisker Intelligent Pilot is standard with Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One, which includes: 3D 360° surround view; door warning; automatic parking spot finder Park My Car; parallel park assist Park Assist with Wheel Guard; adaptive drive control; advanced automatic emergency braking; reverse collision mitigation; and avoid steering assist Integrated Drive Assist; Traffic Congestion Assist (with Integrated Driver Assistance); Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning; Traffic Sign/Light Recognition Frontal and Side Impact Warning; Lane Change Assist; Lane Keeping Assist; Intelligent Speed Assist; Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance; Blind Spot Monitoring.
