On January 7, Mercedes-Benz released its global sales figures for 2021, with Mercedes-Maybach, AMG and G-Class sales setting record highs. Mercedes-Benz's overall market demand has not been affected, with more than 2.4 million new cars delivered worldwide, remaining the world's most valuable luxury car brand.

Among them, Mercedes-Benz passenger car sales reached 2,093,476 units, down 5% year-on-year, and despite strong demand for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in various regions, the lack of semiconductors has delayed the supply of automobiles. It is worth mentioning that Mercedes S-class car sales rose 40% year-on-year to 87,064 units, of which the Chinese market accounted for 35.5%; G-class car sales reached a record 41,174 units; AMG model deliveries reached 145,979 units, up 16.7% year-on-year; Maybach sales rose 50.7% year-on-year to 15,730 units, mainly due to maybach's high demand in the Chinese market, with an average monthly sales of 900 units.

Regionally, mercedes-Benz passenger car sales in The Chinese market edged down 2 percent to 758,863 units, where the company continued to enhance the intelligence and digitalization of product technology and service experiences. Electric passenger car sales are a highlight of Mercedes-Benz. In 2021, Mercedes deliveries of plug-in hybrid and electric passenger cars reached a record 227,458 units, of which 48,936 (up 154.8% year-on-year) were All Electric Passenger Cars of the Mercedes-Benz EQ series. Since the launch of the EQS in August 2021, the number of bookings for this car has reached 16,370.

Mercedes-Benz commercial van sales grew 2.6 percent to 334,210 units in 2021 due to strong demand in the first half of 2021, particularly from China and the United States. Among them, sales in China and the United States increased by 11.3% and 4.8%, respectively. In Europe, Spain became a strong market, with deliveries up 23.2 percent last year. In the U.S., Sprinter was once again one of the sales drivers, selling 53,472 units.

Last year, Mercedes-Benz sold more than 9,000 electric commercial vans, doubling from 2020 and further increasing the share of electric vehicles in the commercial van fleet. Overall, Mercedes-Benz delivered more than 99,000 electric vehicles worldwide in 2021, up 90.3% year-on-year.

Customer demand continues to rise and orders for our commercial and private all-electric vans are increasing. ”

Looking ahead to 2022, Mercedes-Benz will further accelerate the pace of electrification, with the launch of eight pure electric and plug-in hybrid models in the Chinese market alone. Also, given that the chip crisis is still ongoing, Mercedes-Benz is making every effort to ensure that surges in customer orders are completed as quickly as possible. The current semiconductor supply situation remains volatile, and the shortage is expected to continue to have an impact on Mercedes-Benz production and sales in the coming quarters.
