Auto Economy Man of the Year – Elon Musk
His car is set to upend the world's political landscape, the only one in a century and a half of the auto industry, and because it could have such a huge impact, we have chosen him, Tesla founder Elon Musk, as the 2021 Automotive Economic Man of the Year.
In the long history of automobile development, some famous multinational automobile brands have grown up by making war money, they use their own cars to support the front line, the government spends money to buy their cars for the army, buys their transportation to support the front line, connects the country with the front... War changed the map of the world, changed the economic status and economic relations between countries. Whether it is World War I or World War II, although the automobile is not the decisive factor in victory or defeat, it has effectively improved the efficiency of the war machine, and it is military and politics that really changed the world map. Musk may use technology to rewrite history.

People have always seen the car as an extension of the legs, or a means of transportation. Even today's intelligence is still seeking new solutions in two-dimensional systems, such as autonomous driving. At that time, when Tesla entered the automotive field, almost no one in the industry was optimistic, standing in the two-dimensional mode, Tesla was just an electric car. As for software-defined cars, although there are quite a few people exploring them now. In fact, musk's software-defined car has subverted people's understanding and definition of cars, but there is still controversy in the industry because people still think about cars from a two-dimensional model and think about future cars based on this.
In 2021, what people see is Tesla's popularity in China, the market seems to be exerted by Musk magic, no matter the price increase, price reduction, no matter how many negative reviews, Tesla is selling as hot as ever. In the eyes of consumers, this car at any time through the OTA upgrade system, they bought the new car is the worst, after buying in their own hands, the more the car is used more in line with their own individual needs, as if they have become the most aware of their partners. This completely subverts the concept of traditional cars, that is, the car bought is the best, and the older it is used, the older it is. Chinese consumers only know that their personal data is transmitted to Tesla's headquarters, and after the optimization of big data, their cars are more and more in line with their personalized needs. As a result, the entire industry is trying to solve from the two-dimensional coordinate thinking mode in order to surpass Tesla, such as intelligent driving, which has become hot enough to make capital crazy.
Just when people are obsessed with automatic driving, Musk has launched his own mobile phone, which can transmit signals through SpaceX's starlink at any time, and since then 5G, 6G... Probably not. And that's not to mention, two SpaceX satellites on the starlink recently actively changed orbits and almost crashed into The Chinese space station. This reminds people of Tesla, and the aftertaste is completely different, because Tesla's data was transmitted to the United States through Starlink, and Starlink has changed from Musk's private assets to the assets of the US military. If the phone can directly link to StarLink and transmit data in real time, what about Tesla? Looking at cars and mobile phones with the eyes of mobile terminals, the capabilities of mobile phones are obviously far inferior to those of cars. So how should Tesla be defined? How to understand Musk's identity? Is it an engineer? Is it a scientist? Or the U.S. military?
I remember that on February 6 last year, I sent an issue of "Chelao Road" with Mr. Lanhe, specifically saying that Tesla's big data may pose a threat to national security. Later, the relevant departments issued highly targeted regulations on big data management, that is, the big data of smart cars should exist in China, and the use of big data should be approved by the relevant departments. I thought Musk should be worried about this, who knew that Musk readily agreed. Today, looking at the management regulations of relevant departments from the perspective of StarLink is simply "pediatric" for Musk. Because the data has been transmitted in real time through Starlink, the relevant departments want data, Tesla to give a copy. Anyway, the data is distributed storage, where to transmit the data after the star, is a matter of instructions, is Musk's data on the star only transmitted to the relevant departments designated (or approved) server?
What is StarLink? Starlink is an information collection and transmission system consisting of 42,000 small satellites, which can overlook the Earth at any time without dead ends. In front of the US military, all the armies of various countries are in a state of "naked running". Of course, there are also places that satellites can't see clearly, and as long as there is Tesla in these places, the US military can get the most complete information, even more detailed than what the satellites see. In other words, once the U.S. military goes to war with any country, the U.S. military will fight a war of high information asymmetry, and it will be able to win the battle, and even sacrifice the satellites on the star chain to crash into the other side's reconnaissance satellites, and can also attack missiles in flight. It can be seen that Musk has a space-based system, a ground system, and Tesla is the most important part of the ground system. That is, Musk is looking at the Earth from the perspective of space, using three-dimensional coordinate thinking to provide solutions to change the military status of the United States and change the political map of the world. Looking at Tesla from a three-dimensional perspective, Musk is likely to be the designer who changed the world's political map with modern technology, the changer of the world's economic map, which is the only person in the history of the world automobile with such influence.
Today, some people are always willing to use Tesla's market value when commenting on Musk, and even judge whether Tesla is advanced from the perspective of battery technology. And standing in the three-dimensional space to look at Musk, what is the market value of this point? Is handling, range still an issue? His impact on the automobile economy is far from being as simple as a change in business model, and its impact on politics and economy may go down in history.
