During the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, countless volunteers had to face such a problem: The vast majority of the soldiers of the United Nations Army were tall and tall, and they had obvious advantages in the size of individual soldiers.
This problem is simply not difficult for the commanders and fighters of the volunteer army who have both wisdom and courage, such as one of the units, which has successfully carried out many attacks through collective wisdom. The key role was their first "tongue grabbing" action, which was very successful.
In mid-May 1953, the 210th Regiment of the 70th Division of the 24th Army of the Volunteer Army was ordered to take over the task of the 220 Regiment in the Western Mountains.
In the western hill position, the 210 regiment took a front line to deploy, each battalion was equipped with echelons, adhering to the main points, and each front had a reinforcement company. The third battalion is in the east, the second battalion is in the west, and the first battalion is in the center.

Air raids and shelling of the enemy's western mountain front-line positions are relatively frequent, and hundreds of shells or bombs fall on the positions every day; because the mouths of the tunnels are relatively exposed, they are often destroyed by enemy aircraft bombing, and they must be repaired in time, and there are many tunnels that need to be penetrated so that the troops can maneuver.
At that time, although the troops had a certain amount of equipment, the supply of explosives exceeded the demand. You need to find a way to solve it yourself. At that time, the enemy only had to find the unexploded bomb in the blockade area of the air raid, remove the fuze, and dig out the explosives from the shell. Even these unexploded ordnances are difficult to find because all the troops are looking for them. The troops organized trained engineers, searched in groups, and dug up hundreds of kilograms of explosives, solving the urgent need to build tunnels to improve positions.
After these problems have been solved, it is necessary to take the initiative to attack and annihilate the enemy, and it is necessary to push the focus of the struggle to the forefront of the enemy's positions and expand the area of activity of the volunteer army. Under the instructions of the regimental commander, each battalion company organized each forward detachment to explore the enemy's forward position at night, not only to familiarize themselves with the terrain of the buffer zone and the situation of the enemy's front, but also to temper the courage of the troops and improve their ability to move at night.
Through more than ten days of activities, the commanders and fighters of the volunteer army had a bottom in their hearts about the terrain and enemy feelings in the front, their morale was high, and they always wanted to hit the enemy and touch the ass of this paper tiger.
At this time, the commander of the Seventy Division wanted the 210 regiment to grab a "tongue" to understand the situation of the enemy in person. After the study of the regimental commander, it was decided to choose to implement it in the unnamed highland southeast of the 527.7 highland stationed by the first battalion.
The enemy's forward position is relatively prominent, the distance is close, and the dead end is large, which is conducive to the volunteer army to secretly approach and launch a surprise attack. This "tongue grabbing" task was decided to be completed by a company of reinforcement squads. The company is mainly composed of one shift and forms an intensive squad.
At that time, a company of soldiers heard about grabbing the "tongue", and they had some concerns: the US military positions were well organized, it was not easy to touch and catch the live, and the US soldiers were tall, and even if they were caught, it was not easy to get back.
After two days of night touching and observing, setting up a sand table and discussing mobilization, everyone wanted to use the method of sneak attack. The specific method is to destroy the enemy's fortifications, touch it and stuff it into the enemy bunker with a medium package of explosives, blow the enemy unconscious, and then quickly drag the enemy out and carry it back with a rope tied to a stick. The members of the squad responsible for capturing prisoners were all selected to be taller.
The leaders believed that this was feasible and assigned them a 2-watt telephone to get in touch at any time and provide artillery support if necessary.
In this way, the whole class was divided into three groups: sabotage, capture, and cover, led by Luo Shihe, the reconnaissance staff officer of the 210 regiment, and on the night of June 8, using enemy flares and starlight, the whole class went down the mountain lightly, jumped from time to time, and quickly approached the enemy's front.
Taking advantage of the sound of enemy gunfire and the sound of empty cans blown by the breeze, the warriors secretly opened a passage through the enemy's two snake-belly barbed wire nets. The whole class quickly crawled through and immediately approached the enemy fort.
After the destruction team took its place, it stuffed the explosive package into the enemy bunker, only to hear a loud noise, and the capture group quickly jumped into the fort, touched a comatose enemy, dragged it out and tied it to a stick with a rope, and carried it away. The cover group dropped several grenades into the fort, and the whole squad quickly withdrew from the enemy area and retreated to the foot of the hill on the side of the 210 regiment's position.
At this point, the enemy unleashes flares and fires indiscriminately with machine gun fire. A squad of all personnel took advantage of the dead end to hide for a while, and when the enemy fire was sparse, they returned safely to the tunnel before dawn, without any casualties.
In this combat operation, one squad after another blew up 1 enemy fort, annihilated 1 enemy squad, and captured 1 American soldier, completed the task of capturing prisoners, and was commended by the regiment.
Afterwards, the soldiers said one after another: "Although the US military is tall, it is nothing remarkable at all, as long as we are well organized and closely coordinated, we can catch the living."
Through this actual combat exercise, the confidence to win is higher. The companies of the Volunteer Army, especially the first-line companies, were scrambling to attack the enemy. In the next two months, the entire 210 regimental detachment moved more than 100 times and annihilated more than 330 enemy troops.
As a result of the continuous attacks of the Volunteers, the initiative was fully grasped in the defense. This makes the enemy restless and frightened, continuously casting flares and blindly shooting to strengthen his courage.
