In October 2021, the Hunan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology released that the archaeology of the site of Jimingcheng in Changde County, Hunan Province, excavated the most complete preserved remains of prehistoric wooden structures in China.

The ruins of Jiming City, located in Jimingcheng Village, Linan Town, Lixian County, Changde City, Hunan Province, belong to the northeast of Liyang Plain in Dongting Lake District, and are a Neolithic city site. In the western area of the site, a large wooden structure architectural remains were revealed, with a total area of more than 600 square meters, which is the clearest structure and the most complete preservation of prehistoric wooden structure architectural remains found in China, with a history of about 4700 years.
