This cross-border cooperation began last year. On October 11, 2021, Wanda officially reached a strategic cooperation with Faw of China, announcing that it will empower each other from three dimensions: service ecology, energy ecology and membership ecology, and innovate to build a "Hongqi User Experience Ecology". Wanda will work with Hongqi and Hongqi partners to establish an automobile service company, relying on Wanda's commercial plazas and cultural tourism projects, to build a "new Hongqi supermarket experience store" nationwide.

After reaching a strategic cooperation with China FAW, Wanda's layout in the automotive field began to accelerate.
After holding hands with FAW for more than a month, Dalian Wanda Group and Taiqing (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Taiqing Technology) jointly established Wanda Automobile, while Taiqing (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. held 35% of the shares, and the actual controller can be associated with Shandong Taiyue Group, which is currently a car dealer group of more than 30 4S stores.
After the establishment of Wanda Automobile, at the end of December, Li Hongpeng, former vice president of commercial of Hyundai Motor Group (China), officially joined Wanda Automobile as general manager.
The landing of the Wanda Hongqi Experience Store is also a new step in Wanda's strategy of testing the water and light assets in the new energy vehicle track.
In fact, the Wanda cross-border new energy vehicle track is earlier than Evergrande, Baoneng, Hopson, Rongsheng and other real estate developers. In 2016, Dong Mingzhu, chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, wang Jianlin, chairman of Wanda, and others jointly invested in Yinlong New Energy for 3 billion yuan. Only later, the dream of building cars was shattered, and Wang Jianlin withdrew, and he did not touch the field of car building.
Judging from the current business scope of Wanda Automobile Company, Wang Jianlin is currently involved in the automotive field only at the distribution level, and has not yet been involved in automobile design and manufacturing.
However, with the layout of Wanda Hongqi's flagship store nationwide, it remains to be seen whether Wanda Automobile will expand its business to the manufacturing industry chain.
