The Tang Dynasty was the most glorious chapter in the long history of the Chinese nation, and it could be said to be the first power at that time. In the Tang Dynasty, there was the first and only female emperor in China, Wu Zetian.
Wu Zetian, zhào (zhào) there was only one orthodox female emperor in the former history of our country. In 705, Wu Zetian, who had lived for 82 years, died and was buried in Qianling with Emperor Gaozong of Tang. In front of the mausoleum, there is a stone stele erected by Wu Zetian before his death. But what is puzzling is that this stele has no writing. Because there is no word, everyone calls it a wordless monument. For thousands of years, there has been a lot of discussion about the elements that do not have inscriptions on the stele, and there are several kinds that have been recognized by the masses:
The first: singing praises and praises. During The reign of Wu Zetian, internally, she vigorously developed the imperial examination system, promoted a large number of Han disciples, and broke the situation of the exclusive official positions of the rich and nobles. Vigorously develop agriculture, encourage nongsang, build water conservancy, and seek happiness for the masses. Externally, she stabilized national defense, strengthened border building, and worked to improve the ties between ethnic minorities and the Han nationality. This has made the chasm stable, the national strength rising, and the masses recuperating. Therefore, judging from Wu Zetian's labor performance, Wu Zetian believes that his accumulation of virtue and good deeds is too great, and words can no longer be described, so he erected a wordless monument.
Second: At that time, Wu Zetian admired Taoism, so in order to maintain Taoist control and avoid Confucianism from taking the stage, she killed many Confucians, and Wu Zetian knew that many previous histories were written by Confucians, in order not to let Confucians wantonly retaliate and smear themselves. Therefore, Wu Zetian erected a wordless monument to extinguish the Confucian thoughts. Li Xian was deposed by Wu Zetian in his early years, and perhaps he had hatred in his heart, so he did not write Wu Zetian's inscription. For Datang, the "Wu Zhou" established by Wu Zetian was even more humiliating. Therefore, for the sake of etiquette, there was no inscription for Wu Zetian's carving.
The third kind: Wu Zetian set up a "wordless stele" because he knew that his sins were serious, and he felt that it was better not to write the inscription. Wu Zetian eventually climbed from "talented man" to the position of empress, and later stole the position of emperor. Wu Zetian appointed cool officials, implemented a policy of fear of whistle-blowing and indiscriminate punishment, eradicated dissidents, and made everyone endanger themselves. The most serious thing was that during her reign, she lost the four towns of Anxi in her early years, endangering the country. Therefore, Wu Zetian thought that his sins were deep, so he did not write an inscription.
But after all, what is the element, we are also difficult to determine. Chairman Mao said: Wu Zetian has self-knowledge, and she will not allow her to engrave words on her tablet. Some people have dissected that its original meaning is to accumulate virtue and do immeasurable good deeds, and books are not better than books. Originally, it was Wu Zetian who realized that a person's merits and deeds were right or wrong, and should not be blown by himself, but was still discussed by posterity. Thinking about it carefully, Chairman Mao's statement is the most reasonable, a generation of empress Wu Zetian, her aura is strong, proud of the whole country, and the characteristics and tactics of handling the country are very tough. Therefore, Chairman Mao's statement is even more convincing and wonderful.
