There is a strange change in Xuanwumen, and an inscription was unearthed in Gansu to explain why the prince failed

The xuanwumen change that occurred during the Tang Dynasty is already a very famous historical event in history. Under such circumstances, Li Shimin took the lead in launching an attack, which made the crown prince Li Jiancheng not rush to avoid at all, and eventually Li Shimin killed the crown prince Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji the Prince of Qi, which caused Li Yuan's three eldest sons to lose two.

Under such circumstances, Li Yuan was undoubtedly very sad, after all, it was not a good thing for a white-haired person to send a black-haired person. It is undeniable that after Tang Taizong Li Shimin ascended the throne, the development in all aspects was very good, but Li Shimin's throne came from the wrong way, but this did not affect Li Shimin's contribution to the early development of the Tang Dynasty.

To put it another way, without Li Shimin's rule of Chastity, I am afraid that there would be no later peak period of the Tang Dynasty, that is, from the period of Li Shimin to Li Longji. Li Shimin launched the Xuanwumen Rebellion, killing his brother and forcing his father to pass it on to him, but later generations found many doubts in the process of studying historical materials. This caused posterity to question the change of Xuanwu Gate.

Gansu dug up an inscription, and after scholars examined it, they understood the reason why Li Shimin was able to easily kill Li Jiancheng. That is to say, the excavation of this inscription has given people a new understanding of the changes in Xuanwumen. First of all, there are two points in the change of Xuanwumen, namely, the first Li Shimin once led heavily armed soldiers into the palace, which was unthinkable in the Tang Dynasty, when the palace was strictly forbidden; second, after the deaths of Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji, the guards of the two sides jointly attacked Xuanwumen with a total of 2,000 people, and the strength of the troops was several times that of Li Shimin, and finally they were not allowed to enter the gate.

Such doubts are difficult for future generations to understand. During the last century, a large number of documents were found in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, in which an epitaph manuscript was found, which came from the tombstone of the Tang Dynasty general Chang He. It is precisely because of the appearance of the inscription that people's perception of the change of XuanwuMen has changed. Judging from the records, Chang He was originally a general in the Wagang Army, but later returned to the Tang Dynasty army and has been fighting with Li Jiancheng.

After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Chang He was appointed commander of the Xuanwu Gate Guards, and Li Jiancheng, because he was his old subordinate, had always been unscealed and considered him loyal. But the problem was that Li Jiancheng could never have imagined that Chang He had already been bribed at this time. The person who bribed him was Li Shimin. During the Xuanwumen Rebellion, Chang He secretly put Li Shimin's guards into the imperial palace, and then ambushed him at Xuanwumen with other generals.

In other words, Chang He betrayed Li Jiancheng. As a backup for Li Shimin, after the deaths of Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji, Chang He also led the palace guards to resist the attack of the two together with Li Shimin's relatives. In the seventh year of Wu De, Li Shimin, the king of Qin, transferred Chang He to the capital and placed him on duty at Xuanwu Gate, with the official zhizhong lang general. After that, Li Shimin paid a heavy bribe to Chang He and introduced him as a confidant.

On the fourth day of June in the ninth year of Wu De, Chang He played an important role in the change of Xuanwu Gate. Chang He played an important role in the Xuanwumen Revolution, and after Li Shimin ascended the throne, Chang He's official positions continued to rise. In the sixth year of Zhenguan, Chang He was given the title of Taizhong Dafu (太中大夫), except for the military history of Yanzhou in Yanzhou, and entered the founding uncle of Wushui County.

Subsequently, he successively served as the Jingzhou Thorn History, the Right Tun Wei General, the Right Wu Wei General, the Deputy Commander of the Pyongyang Road March, the Zizhou Thorn History, and the Qianzhou Thorn History. It is undeniable that chang he chose to help Li Shimin at that time was a correct decision, and for Li Shimin, the emergence of Chang He was able to make the change of Xuanwumen successful. Yonghui died of illness on May 16, 1944, at the age of 66.
