Beijing, January 7 (China News Network) -- The eight-year-long restoration project of the Qing Palace of the National Library of China has been a complete success, and the completion of the project was officially announced in Beijing on the 7th. "Tianlu Linlang" is an important collection of books made by the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty who selected the old books of the Song, Jin, Yuan and Ming editions in the collections of the imperial palace, and placed them in the Zhaoren Hall. Although it was cherished by the Qing Palace, from its establishment until the 1950s, the ordeals such as fire, theft, soldiers, and beetles caused a large number of losses in the collection, and nearly 60 of the 664 books have disappeared, and more than 600 surviving parts are mainly stored in mainland China and Taiwan.

At present, the National Library of China has 279 "Tianlu Linlang", of which the proportion of Song and Yuan engravings is the largest collection of "Tianlu Linlang" at home and abroad, and it preserves most of the most precious ancient books in the "Later Compilation of the Bibliography of Tianlu Linlang". These ancient books are not only engraved for a long time, but some are still orphaned and precious.

According to reports, in June 2013, the National Library of Ancient Books completed the cataloguing of the uneducated books of "Tianlu Linlang" and investigated its damage. The survey results show that one in ten of the books is first-degree damage and is in urgent need of rescue repair. The National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books took this opportunity to plan to carry out the "Tianlu Linlang" restoration project and complete the restoration of these precious ancient books in a few years.

At the expert acceptance meeting of the final project, the participating experts unanimously gave high praise to the results of the restoration project. Experts believe that the "Tianlu Linlang" restoration project exceeded the expected goal and is another important and precious ancient book restoration project of the National Library of China after the restoration projects such as "Dunhuang Testament" and "Zhao Cheng Jinzang".

The whole project restoration volume is large, difficult, complex situation, the team for each collection of different situations to develop a plan, carry out restoration, in the full implementation of the current restoration concept and principles on the basis of the realization of innovation and breakthrough, so that "learning the ancient is not muddy, breaking the law does not contradict the law"; at the same time in the project management, restoration steps, restoration techniques, restoration materials, scientific research results, skill inheritance, technological innovation and other aspects of the fruitful results, comprehensive, detailed and rich record of the restoration process, for this large-scale ancient book restoration project scientific 3. Standardized development provides useful experience and information, which is of landmark significance.

Chen Hongyan, director of the office of the National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books, introduced that the "Tianlu Linlang" collection has a prominent feature, that is, most of the collections can see traces of previous restorations. Under the guiding principle of "the old as it is", a new question is faced - to preserve or erase the remains of these "latecomers"? The National Library of China has repeatedly and deeply explored this problem in this restoration, and finally when dealing with ancient books that have traces of previous interventions, the impact of its intervention methods on the current and even future use quality and preservation life of the book is fully analyzed before restoration, so as to reasonably control the time node of the current restoration cycle that needs to be restored. In the face of situations that do not affect the quality of book preservation, it is necessary to strictly maintain historical relics and leave objective evidence for future generations.

But there are still many special cases, she for example, in the past to "even patch lining" and other improper repair methods of repair caused by the book leaf paper folds, knots, adhesions, etc., the operation traces of the predecessors are not conducive to the protection of ancient books, this restoration has been rectified, to minimize the possibility of its body continuing to deteriorate, so that the retention time can be extended; there are also book leaf paper serious loss of physical strength, urgent need to rescue the situation, after water immersion serious adhesion, acidification seriously lead to paper crisp, such as "Danyuan Collection", "Tang Letter", etc., If the deacidification and reinforcement treatment is not carried out in time, the scope of acidification will continue to spread; there will be serious flocculation that causes paper deformation, interactive adhesion and even thin and loose situations, such as not mounting it locally or even as a whole, the paper carrying the text will continue to deteriorate and degrade. When dealing with various disease problems, the repair plan is not a rigid copy of the principles of "the old as the old, the least intervention", etc., under the premise of adhering to the basic principles, the work is still a specific analysis of specific problems.

It is reported that the National Library (National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books) will hold the "Tianlu Linlang" restoration exhibition during the year, publish relevant restoration results, promote restoration experience and scientific research results, and launch follow-up ancient book restoration projects in a timely manner, and continue to promote the work of the national ancient book restoration technology transmission center and the attached transmission center.
