The three-year-old girl accidentally fell into the magnetic nail straight into the skull, fortunately, this group of Shanghai doctors "picked the star"

This "star" on the child's head is not a sticker or hairpin, but a solid magnetic nail! A few days ago, a three-year-old girl fell unexpectedly, magnetic nails into the skull, fortunately sent to Shanghai Children's Hospital in time for medical treatment, after emergency surgery to remove foreign bodies, at present, the girl successfully escaped from danger, has left the surgical intensive care unit back to the general ward.

On the afternoon of January 6, a three-year-old girl was admitted to the emergency department of Shanghai Children's Hospital, and the receiving doctor thought the child was wearing a beautiful star hair ornament on his head. It was a nail inserted into the skull!

It turned out that the girl was playing with another child at home, accidentally fell from the bed, and happened to hit a magnetic nail with the handle facing upwards, that is, this "star". After CT examination, it was found that the magnetic nail broke the child's skull, plunging into the brain about 1.3 cm, causing a dent fracture of the left parietal bone and extracephalangeal hemorrhage, and puncturing the meninges, almost damaging the functional area of the brain. The child cried incessantly, but fortunately there was no mental disorder.

After discussion, the team of Liu Jiangang, director of the Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Children's Hospital, decided to take a plan that was less invasive for the child to remove the foreign body. Up to 5 hours of surgery, the team cleared the broken tissue, reduced the dented skull... Finally successfully "picked the star". The child has recovered well after the operation and has now been transferred out of the intensive care unit and returned to the general ward, with good limb movement.

Children's skin, muscles and bone tissues are relatively weak, the ability to protect the nervous system is naturally relatively weak, and in the case of the same degree of injury, it is easier to damage nerve tissue and have sequelae.

Dr. Zhan Qijia of the Department of Neurosurgery of Shanghai Children's Hospital reminded that children over the age of three must learn some daily safety education. Parents can demonstrate with practical actions, teach them the correct way of behavior, teach their children how to protect themselves, especially important parts such as the head, and reduce the occurrence of accidental injuries.

Children can choose to wear lightweight anti-collision protective helmets during daily activities, and anti-collision devices can be pasted on the corners of the door or sharp furniture surfaces of the home, which can greatly reduce the probability of home collision injuries. Children should also do warm-up activities before practicing dance and exercising, and the probability of accidents will be relatively reduced.
