On January 6, at the CES 2022 exhibition, ASUS launched the world's first 17.3-inch foldable OLED notebook, model Zenbook 17 Fold. The product will be listed in the middle of the year, and the specific price has not been announced, but it should be that ordinary consumers cannot afford to buy the series.

It is understood that the Zenbook 17 Fold has a 17.3-inch 2.5K touch screen with a 4:3 ratio. Folded through the middle hinge, it can be transformed into two 12.5-inch 3:2 ratio displays with a resolution of 1920*1280. One screen can be responsible for content display, and the other screen can be used for other tasks such as control, which may improve the efficiency of the office.
The display is T V Rheinland Eye Care certification, supports 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, Dolby Vision HDR certification, etc. With the built-in color sensor, the screen can be adaptively adjusted brightness and color temperature. There is also a 5-megapixel camera at the top of the screen, equipped with ASUS 3D noise reduction technology, which enables clear video passage.
The notebook is powered by Intel's latest 12th generation Core i7 low-voltage U-series processor with integrated Iris Xe core display. The fuselage is equipped with a Harman Kardon certified four-speaker sound system, support for Dolby Atmos, support for Windows Hello, provide dual thunderbolt 4 interface, built-in 75Wh battery, etc.
Although the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold is not the world's first folding screen notebook, it is the first to achieve a screen size of 17.3 inches. The product can be used as an oversized flatbed or even a display screen after unfolding, and after folding, it becomes a 12.5-inch notebook, with Bluetooth keyboards and other devices, but it can get a more flexible experience.
However, such a product is not very practical, and there is a feeling of folding in order to fold. First of all, the product does not give more functions to the folding feature, it is simply a switch between large and small screens, even if one of the screens is used as a virtual keyboard for input control, the user experience is far inferior to a 12.5-inch notebook.
Secondly, Zenbook 17 Fold does not play a good role in the portable characteristics of folding screen devices, the product is still the same size as a 12.5-inch notebook after folding, maybe you have to carry a Bluetooth keyboard, to be honest, it is better to directly bring a 12.5-inch notebook to be crisp.
Xiao Lei believes that Asus's folding screen notebook is more used to show off skills and break the design form of conventional notebooks, but the actual use may not be as good as a two-in-one notebook. Moreover, the cost of the folding screen is higher and the durability is not strong, and the cost of later maintenance is not cheap. Of course, friends who are interested in it can also keep an eye on it, and believe that Asus will give you a surprising price.
