At its peak, Zhang Renkui had more than 30,000 disciples and grandchildren in the country, and there were 3,000 or 4,000 backbone personnel, infiltrating into various industries in the Republic of China, and Zhang Renkui became the godfather of the Republic of China. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Du Yuesheng ran to Hong Kong, and Zhang Renkui stayed in the concession like Jin Rong because of his advanced age. During the Battle of Songhu, Zhang Renkui asked his disciples to act quickly and contribute to the War of Resistance. During his seclusion, he called himself ill and refused to cooperate with the Japanese, and did a big thing - he planned to assassinate Zhang Xiaolin, one of the three tycoons of Shanghai Beach.
At that time, Dai Kasa was ordered to get rid of Zhang Xiaolin, who had surrendered to the Japanese, but he was unable to do so. Later, Zhang Xiaolin approached Du Yuesheng and Zhang Renkui, hoping to be solved by the internal ideas of the Qinggang disciples. Zhang Renkui was unmoved, often angry with Japanese lobbyists, so that he became angry and sick, and died in Shanghai on December 24, 1944, at the age of 80. After his death, the Kuomintang set up a seat in Chongqing on April 29, 1945, to mourn. A generation of godfathers of the Republic of China thus ended their legendary lives, and many people said that his death symbolized the demise of the real Qinggang.
