Hong Kong, 5 Jan (China News Network) -- The Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government held the "Launching Ceremony and Book Donation Ceremony of the Eighth Basic Law and Hong Kong Inter-School Quiz Competition celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" on 5 January, and issued a circular letter to all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong to encourage schools and students to actively participate in and promote national education in schools.

A spokesman for the Education Bureau said that the Education Bureau has always attached great importance to education in Hong Kong's Basic Law. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the return of the HKSAR to the motherland, the topics of this year's quiz competition will increase the development history and achievements of the People's Republic of China since its founding, the relationship between the state and the HKSAR, and the development of Hong Kong since its return to the motherland, so as to deepen students' understanding of the country and the HKSAR, understand the constitutional relationship between them, and thus enhance their national concept and national identity.

When the Secretary for Education, Mr Yeung Yun-hung, officiated at the launch ceremony and book donation ceremony of the competition, he accepted the study book "Navigating the Law" donated by Bauhinia Magazine on behalf of the school and transferred it to the representatives of the school council and the principals' association. It is reported that the contents of the "Navigator of Knowing the Law" include the Constitution, the Hong Kong Basic Law and the Hong Kong National Security Law.
