Outside of this story, a cruel historical fact is that there are many Confucian students in history who are as obsessed with the imperial examination as "Fan Jin". As for the reason, it is not only because the imperial examination is an inevitable way for Confucian students themselves to break through the class and achieve advancement; there is also the traditional Confucian education that gives Confucian students the concept of "learning and excellence" and "applying it to the world".
In the late Tang Dynasty, there was also such a Confucian who was obsessed with the imperial examination, and what was even more shocking than Fan Jin's 54-year-old Zhongju was that he was only a zhongjinshi at the age of 71, and only two years after becoming an official, he died - he was Cao Song. In order to be able to realize his great ambitions, serve the imperial court, and benefit his family, he was born in poverty and finally won the gold list after repeated defeats, but the wind candle in his seventies did not reach the end of the year. His death as an official for two years made him even more unable to fulfill his ambitions, so that if he were not a friend who was familiar with history, few people would know his name, let alone deeds.
However, what we have to say is that compared with his "unknown" and "downfall", his seven-word poem can be described as a thousand years of fire, and one of them can be described as well-known.

Shi Zai Cao Song was born in 828, in due course for the second year of Emperor Wenzong of Tang.com. At that time, the Tang Dynasty was already like the afterglow of the setting sun, and the prosperous weather was gone. The monopoly of power by eunuchs and the division of feudal towns also made the people's lives difficult and the people's livelihoods difficult.
Such a social environment is extremely bad for Cao Song, who comes from the bottom of society. The era is a grain of dust, and the iron law of the history of a mountain is also vividly reflected at this moment.
Accustomed to the wolf smoke on the battlefield and seeing more people displaced, how can Cao Song be relieved in his heart, and how can he be relieved, so what is manifested is that we can see from the historical records that he participated in the imperial examination countless times, countless times he fell behind, and even Bai Shou hao's hair was still participating in the imperial examination. Among them, there are naturally requirements for him to get rid of the embarrassing situation, but we have to say that there are also his empathy at the bottom and the bottom of the "trouble", and there is also such a heavy pressure of the times.
When Cao Song was 71 years old, it was the first year of Emperor Zhaozong's restoration (901), and he finally got what he wanted, and the title of the golden list was inscribed. Subsequently, according to the custom, he was appointed as a school secretary and later transferred to the secretary of the province. Cao Song, who has fulfilled his wishes, must be extremely happy at this moment, but in our descendants' eyes, after the big dream comes true, he will inevitably have a trace of affection in his heart.
Because at this moment, he has long ceased to be prosperous, has long been dying of old age, and his strength is not enough. And it was, and he died just two years later.
For Cao Song's life, born in a chaotic world, growing up in a chaotic world, he never gave in, hoping to make a difference, but in the dangerous situation of war and chaos and the building falling, we have to admit that this is like a grasshopper shaking a tree.

In those years of the imperial examination, Cao Song would ride a donkey like Lü Dongbin and walk and stop, traveling between the mountains and rivers that had long been fragmented. Coincidentally, Lü Dongbin was born thirty years earlier than Cao Song, and it is difficult to say that Cao Song's actions did not mean to "imitate" Lü Dongbin.
Every time he went to a place, he saw more displaced people and was accustomed to injustice, and the anger in Cao Song's heart would burn a few points. In the sixth year of Qianfu (879), the Tang Dynasty's reward for The Zhenhai Festival's envoy Gao Biao also made him angry. Therefore, in the first year of Guangming (that is, in 880), Cao Song, who recalled this incident, wrote the "Two Songs of The Age of Self".

In the first sentence of this poem, the poet explains a great background of the times. What is the "Map of the Entry of the Zeguo Into the War"? After the Anshi Rebellion, the Tang Dynasty declined, the division of the feudal towns intensified, and the oppression suffered by the people became heavier, which also led to repeated wars and peasant uprisings. And isn't such a scene of soldiers and horses a battle map?
And the inevitable result of war is the destruction of life. The people who struggled between life and death even took pleasure in the woodcutters who worked hard to collect firewood and cut grass. But is this really "fun"? A musical word reflects how much human misery there is.
In the face of this bloody and tearful reality, how can it not be disheartening to recall Gao Biao's reward last year? Is a general who has been rewarded for "killing more people" really worthy of the title? The word "by" is even more heartfelt about the author's countless hearts.
In fact, how can the author not know the reason for this - "one will achieve ten thousand bones". For this sentence, "the word is about and the meaning is abundant", and we can feel the author's strength from the strong contrast between "one" and "ten thousand", "glory" and "dryness", which can be described as a loud voice and a thousand words.
Everyone in the past dynasties has highly praised Cao Song's sentence "One will achieve ten thousand bones", and one of the "Two Songs of Self-Hai Age" is the crown of Cao Song's poems.
