According to the New India Express, under the National Railways Plan, The Indian Railways is planning to add four new high-speed bullet train lines to connect another 9 cities to the high-speed rail network. The proposed high-speed rail corridor includes 618 km of routes between Hyderabad and Bangalore, 855 km between Nagpur and Varanasi, 850 km between Patna and Guwahati, and 190 km long between Amritsar, Patankot and Jammu.

A source told the newspaper that these new high-speed rail corridors will be proposed outside the 8 high-speed rail corridors carried out by the Indian Ministry of Railways under the national railway plan. In addition, the Ministry of Railways is considering connecting all major cities in India to the high-speed rail network. According to the newspaper's report, the approved and proposed corridor of high-speed bullet trains will run along national highways and highways, and passengers will have a rich view of greenery.

In an interview with The Financial Express, India's Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that at present, India's first high-speed rail corridor will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with a total length of 508 kilometers, and is under construction, which may continue until 2026-2027.

The project is expected to cost Rs 1.1 trillion (about 94.1 billion yuan). The National High Speed Rail Corporation of India, which finances, builds and manages the Indian bullet high-speed train project, has prepared a detailed project report for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad project. Project reports for other high-speed rail corridors awaiting approval are still in preparation.

The 8 high-speed rail corridors that have been approved include the Mumbai-Ahmedabad project, a 958-kilometer project between New Delhi and Varanasi, and a 123-kilometer branch line connecting Lucknow and Ayodya; a 736-kilometer project between Nagpur and Mumbai; an 886-kilometer project between Delhi and Ahmedabad; a 480-kilometer project between Delhi and Amritsar; and a 711-kilometer project between Mumbai and Hyderabad.

If all goes according to plan, the Indian Ministry of Railways may come up with plans for these four new high-speed rail corridors this year. (Editor: SDY)
