Thorn buds are the spring shoots of the genus Liaodong linden in the family Pentagramaceae, also known as thorny dragon teeth, thorny old buds, and tender thorny vegetables. It grows in broad-leaved forests and mixed coniferous forests below 1 km above sea level.

Liaodong linden is a small perennial deciduous tree, also known as dragon's tooth tree. The height of the tree is generally 1.5 to 3.5 m; 2 to 3 odd pinnate compound leaves; the stems, branches, petioles, leaf shafts and leaflet shafts are all growing thorns; flowering in June and August, fruiting in September to October.

Dragon tooth tree is distributed in the northeast, north China, southwest and other places, and the habit of eating its young shoots everywhere is the most famous in the northeast region, which has been cultivated on a large scale, and can be planted against the season, and can be exported to earn foreign exchange.
